I like their stuff, and they got HR to sing on a track, and they put out new stuff that I can pretend is sublime while gatting wasted. In my personal opinion, yeah. Whaddya think?

if they are doing it, let's get them some heroin, too.

HR's nuts, so getting him to do anything isn't anything to necessarily be proud about.

Sublime were *SEVERELY* overrated.

didn't long beach break-up?

Haha, yeah, Belmont Shores is now its own city. Hawaiian Gardens usurped the rest. What other Fugazi bass lines will the band borrow for followup hit songs?

five years pass...

On Vh1's Behind the Music: Sublime music journalist Heidi Siegmund Cuda, author of Bradley Nowell: Crazy Fool, predicted future critical praise for Bradley Nowell, stating, "People critically don't think of Brad in terms of the Jim Morrisons and the Kurt Cobains, but they will."

Sadly, I think some people already do think of him that way. I happened to be in a major retail chain the day that Sublime rarities boxset came out and I'd say 7 of the 10 people ahead of me in line were buying it. There is a frighteningly large demographic that puts him on an even higher altar than those posthumous ones erected for Morrison and Cobain. In fact, it kinda seems like Cobain's is fading lately, but Nowell's keeps on growing.

He doesn't cause the bros to question themselves that much.

Also: "Yeah, Cobain was a suicidal pussy but Brad, man, he died like a man, an artist!"

Or something similar.

Nowell >> Cobain

He had more soul, and on the whole made better music.

And in my experience Nirvana fanboys tend to be all "woe is me" while Sublime fanboys are more "let's hit the bong."

elan, Thursday, 1 May 2008 00:37 (eighteen years ago)

too bad he obviously was depressed and addicted to heroin and let himself abandon a child and mother

elan, Thursday, 1 May 2008 00:38 (eighteen years ago)

oh but he made some good weed tunes (not! his music is bad)

except for 'steady b loop dub', that was a good cut. maybe because he didn't play his guitar on it.
