And what was with that vh1 movie where Hammer was hanging out with Suge and Tupac during the making of this album? And then the one day Hammer decides to stay home TUPAC IS SHOT. Somehow, I get the feeling this isn't really the way things went down...

KFAI's "Crap From The Past" had an entire show Friday night devoted to "2002 In Review of Artists You Didn't Know Still Recorded Stuff". Judas Priest, Def Leppard, that one guy from Fine Young Cannibals, Lionel Richie... oh boy. In that hour and a half alone there could be like ten albums to post here.
He didn't even play anything from the new Boston, either.

(re: Hammer - the funniest thing I've ever heard the Beastie Boys do involved Ad Rock and MCA interviewing each other about the "Rumps and Pumps" video. Much discussion of tight underpants and colloquial terminology thereof.)

Of all of those, "that one guy from Fine Young Cannibals" has to be the winner.

seems sorta strange now to even remember this... anyhow, Traffic's '94 creep-back rec Far From Home was daft to the max

Vanilla Ice's three -- count'em, Three -- failed comeback records trump Hammer's.
Hard to Swallow, Bipolar and Hooked can be summed up by the following:
Split into two sides, one filled with his rap-metal noodling and the other with his hip-hop, the album is wildly uneven and at times hilariously bad. It is easy to be needlessly cruel to Vanilla Ice — his rapid rise and fall is one of music's biggest jokes. But his reputation is not improved by the music he continues to release.

Billy Idol's Cyberpunk album takes the cake. It takes away all the points he won for his role in The Wedding Singer.

Wasn't there a Terence Trent d'Arby comeback album? And the "real Milli Vanilli" album...the Bathory comeback album Destroyer Of Worlds was also one of the biggest non-events of 2002.

Cyberpunk doesn't count! It's the moment he lost relevance, but it wasn't exactly a "comeback". Unless you consider getting up from a motrocycle accident and hobbling around like a goof with a cane something significant to come back from.

I dunno about the rest of the world, but Snow has had a comeback album (or two?) here in Canada. Why it's NOT been a failed one is a mystery to me.

I think Rick Springfield had something out not too long ago that fell flat on its face.

And Corey Hart - aside from one charting single that wasn't THAT bad for "adult contemporary", it wasn't much more than a nice try. Remember when him and B. Adams were like Blur and Oasis?

Yes, but The Funky Headhunter has a much funnier album title.

Billy Idol's Cyberpunk album takes the cake. It takes away all the points he won for his role in The Wedding Singer.

Wasn't this the first enhanced cd, also? Seems fitting as I've never found one that did more than irritate me when I try and play it on my computer.
