Cuz you know they've been dissing each other...

Callum (Callum), Monday, 30 December 2002 22:34 (twenty-three years ago)

How about "C. They both suck?"

hstencil, Monday, 30 December 2002 22:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Correct.

Callum (Callum), Monday, 30 December 2002 22:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Grohl gets credit for drumming for QOTSA though.

Callum (Callum), Monday, 30 December 2002 22:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Is that arena-rock Foo Fighters video meant to be ironic? It's boring whatever the intentions behind it.

Amateurist (amateurist), Monday, 30 December 2002 22:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Foo Fighters, solely for the "Everlong" single, which is the subtlest cut to ever hit modern rock radio.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Monday, 30 December 2002 22:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I think the Foo Fighters are ok. I don't think the Vines are ok.

Sean (Sean), Monday, 30 December 2002 22:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I think the Foo Fighters seem like the kinda dudes I'd get along with, and the Vines seem like one little undeserving gobshite and his four wish-we-had-nothing-to-do-with-this cronies.

Foo Fighters music...meh.

The Vines music...blargh!!!!!

I take the side of...um...FISHBONE!!!!!!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 30 December 2002 22:57 (twenty-three years ago)

The Vines are crap.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 30 December 2002 22:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Yanc3y is so on the money it almost hurts.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 31 December 2002 00:22 (twenty-three years ago)

No, Sean is on the money. A plain-spoken, but 100% accurate summary.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Tuesday, 31 December 2002 00:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Vines = Silverchair

jm (jtm), Tuesday, 31 December 2002 01:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Although I agree with Nickalicious about the Fishbone thing, I'd have to say the Foo Fighters, if not for longevity and the fact that Dave Grohl drummed for QOTSA (and let's not forget about that Seattle band, whatever it was called), he was also part of the DC hardcore scene for a while in the 80s.

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Tuesday, 31 December 2002 02:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't mind the Vines, but the Foos are light years better, in everything from songs to performances. The Vines are easily the worst live band I've seen (at their popularity level, that is. there are even worse live bands out there but they don't sell as many records).

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 December 2002 02:18 (twenty-three years ago)

If the Vines ever record anything close to sheer beauty of "Everlong," I will be knocked for a loop. Hell, if they ever record anything close to "Israel's Son," I'll be surprised.

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Tuesday, 31 December 2002 05:00 (twenty-three years ago)

dave grohl sux (NB: u r all gay)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 31 December 2002 05:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Has anybody ever had the misfortune of seeing the Foo Fighters live? I did once, by accident and I'm not kidding when I say these guys cannot play. That was 5 years or so ago though, maybe they've gotten better.

The Vines are just horrible.

Chris Davis (Chris Davis), Tuesday, 31 December 2002 09:45 (twenty-three years ago)

The Vines are better than the Foo Fighters, but then, so are Nickelback, Men at Work, O-Town, etc

dave q, Tuesday, 31 December 2002 11:02 (twenty-three years ago)

No, the Vines = Bush = Nirvana

_Gibby_, Tuesday, 31 December 2002 15:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Grohl is dang good at covers. So was Kurt.

toraneko (toraneko), Tuesday, 31 December 2002 15:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Highly Evolved > Songs For The Deaf > One By One

however

The Foo Fighters > Queens of the Stone Age > The Vines

Allister, Tuesday, 31 December 2002 18:24 (twenty-three years ago)

The new Foo Fighters single is great. So blunt.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 31 December 2002 18:58 (twenty-three years ago)

The Foo Fighters and Vines have been dissing each other? What'd they say?

Also, very hilarious that the Vines (who started out covering Nirvana songs, and then went on to make their very own Nirvana songs, are being dissed by a member of Nirvana)

David Allen, Tuesday, 31 December 2002 20:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I never thought I'd ever think about such a thing, but now that I'm thinking about it I'm surprised to find myself leaning toward the Vines.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 31 December 2002 20:21 (twenty-three years ago)

"I think the Foo Fighters seem like the kinda dudes I'd get along with, and the Vines seem like one little undeserving gobshite and his four wish-we-had-nothing-to-do-with-this cronies."

incredibly astute.

I side for the foo fighters. purely on the basis that they allow me to see 60 by 40 raymond pettibon posters pasted all over glasgow. something which shouldn't be underestimated in how cool it is.

simon 803 (simon 803), Friday, 3 January 2003 13:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Foo Fighters.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 3 January 2003 13:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Craig Nichols is the David Brent of rock.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 3 January 2003 14:30 (twenty-three years ago)

is that good or bad?

mark s (mark s), Friday, 3 January 2003 14:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, Dave Grohl is Neil and Conor NMEeditorchap is Gareth.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 3 January 2003 14:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I'd side with the Foos, BUT, I don't own any of their records, yet I do own that there album by The Vines.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 3 January 2003 15:05 (twenty-three years ago)

four years pass...

The Foo Fighters have well-arranged songs and good albums, and the Vines are a stinkpatch with a couple good harmonies.

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)

Are the Vines still together? I completely forgot they ever existed.
