inspired by the Elvis Unchained Melody thread...

I prefer Jerry Lee Lewis's country recordings of the 70s to his Sun sides. Same with Roy Orbison, only his early 60s stuff, "Running Scared" haunts my sleep.
Anyone else think of people who artistically peaked after their commercial peak (that doesn't really fit for Orbo, but what the hey-na-na), or at least who made magnificent music after being written off?

Looks like Arthur Lee to me. He looks a lot better now.

I think the late 60's--early 70's were when Elvis did some of his best stuff. I just remembered that I kept threatening to start a thread about it but never did. Anyway who's that above, and why is the file size so large?

"Strokin" is clearly the BEST song Screamin' Jay ever wrote.

While many would disagree, Tom fucking Waits has been a monster since he he became an old married Catholic man. Not that he's done much in the way of mediocrity to begin with, the banjos, marimbas, and horn section gets the job with more gusto than the old ivory, bass cello, and acoustic guitars, in my opinion...

"What about Bowie?" EXACTLY!
