I really only know the Mentors from mp3s but I think these two bands need to be compared.

i haven't heard nig-heist yet. curses. but the only mentors song that really kicks my ass still is "police hotel" on the "copulation" comp.

Nig-Heist: FOBF (friends of Black Flag) trying their hardest to sound dumb. The Mentors: actually that dumb.

Are you serious? I totally thought they were being silly... jeez.

Also, Ian McKaye playing mysogenistic rock = win

Yeah ...they were both kinda lame, and boringly "gross" and sexual". But Nig-heist didn't usually even come close to being "music" as we know it, whereas the Mentors usually had some semblance of song structure to remember after the abuse was over!

two years pass...
Nig-Heist studio LP was good, "Hot Muff" being my repeat listen. Short, too, which how this type of crass stuff works best. But they don't equal The Mentors' "Live at the Cathay" which works as a vile comedy album interspersed with sections where the the band playing bad heavy metal with the lyrics and titles set to fit El Duce's raps (Free Fix for a Fuck).

The Mentors "trashbag" EP was their best in the studio. Again, brevity -- "I'm Going Through Your Purse." Trying to make studio albums for Metal Blade maybe wasn't so good an idea. They ran through their best XXX jokes and shticks before Tipper Gore made them briefly infamous.

the two-part structure of (the Nig-Heist's) Tight Little Pussy is pretty killer - the crooning opening is so gleefully bad that when it kicks into the rock bit, it sounds totally slick by comparison

Drag City has just re-issued the Nig Heist LP.
