Is the new Dead Prez album any good?

I've enjoyed their tracks on both of DJ /rupture's mixes, and the new TURN OFF THE RADIO: THE MIXTAPE, VOLUME 1 features their raps on top of Aalyiah's "We Need A Resolution" and others (another spin on the mash-up!)

Who's heard it, and if you have, would you recommend it?

I bought it -- it's all right, not as together as their previous album. Their website suggests that it's a placekeeper prior to the next Actual Album. Very rockist of them. I must say that some of the bile on this record is so pronounced as to curl my toes, which probably means that when I listen to it in ten years it'll strike me as brilliant though. For the moment however the guy proclaiming loudly that he won't fuck white women, but will let them go down on him and then "nut in they mouth, instantly" kinda gives me the creeps.

It has its moments. Unlike J0hn, I think some of the vitriol is toned down from the last album. The lyrics aren't quite as good as before. On the upside, they also never get quite so bad as last time out. The jacked beats ("We Need a Resolution," "Juicy," "Whoa!," Afrika Bambaataa, Wu-Tang, Stevon Marley, No Limit) thing misfires more than it works. If you didn't like Let's Get Free, this may be a little more your speed.

Let's Get Free is the best hiphop album I've ever heard. Really looking forward to this new one.

Oh great, and this was one of my undie hip-hop outfits to check out. Maybe it basically is crap after all. I heard two really awful tracks on a low-signal radio around here, by the esteemed Jay-Z and one by Nas, respectively.
