This was, obviously, meant for ILE.

nuh uh ...

David Soul -vs- Tom Wopat.

I'm taking Wopat on this one... Soul was a hack.

The Dukes of Hazard union flag car is one of the great symbols of rock n' roll TV!

Someone mention C.H.I.P.S. - I lOVED this when I was a kid. I like how they ALWAYS had one "fun" subplot (dogs/crazy old people) and one big main plot (drugs/guns/death).

I liked CHIPS because they always went to a disco at the end.

I'm going with "Starskey & Hutch" simply because (a) they weren't rednecks, but rather hip, gun-totin' city slickers with badges and (b) they were pals with Huggy Bear. The Dukes do have an edge given the fact that neither Starsky nor Hutch knew anyone a third as hot as Daisy Duke, but the fact that she was the Dukes' COUSIN rendered her moot (i.e. no one was going to get too close to her unless it was Cletus or Boss Hog or some other unlikely supporting cast member).

S&H also had the cooler car.

You're saying the Torino was cooler than the Charger?

paul cox (paul cox), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 14:12 (twenty-three years ago)

That's what I'm sayin', Paul.

Well, I had toys for both cars when I was a kid and little police light on top of the S&H car broke and fell down inside. The Duke boys' car didn't have any breakable parts -- thus, the General Lee WINS!

The torino was WAY cooler than the charger... I mean, come on!

The "Tomato Stripe" '76 Ford Grand Torino on Starsky & Hutch wins hands down. These guys weren't a couple-a-ya-hoo gearhead cousins; they were streetwise cops fightin' the good fight. Not only is S&H cooler because my brother and i played them as kids (i played Starsky) but their threads were downright slick.

The Dukes' General Lee prophesized NASCAR and extended the Confederate symbiology, but that whacked-out orange '69 Dodge Charger (Challenger?) while replete with ported exhaust and roll-cage completed virtually impossible tasks (which was obvious to me even as a child). The Dukes get points for high family values, a killer-hot sister/cousin, and a Waylon Jennings theme song, but it just ain't enough.

---But CHiPs, now that's embarrassing.

Starsky & Hutch -> The Law will kick your ass.
Them Dukes -> Give the law a hotfoot and then run!

Coooo coo coo coo.
