Great club, guys. This is what I know and have
heard about what Wendy has been up to.
She was
dropped officially by MCA (& Geffen) in 1993.
She
recorded an album for (United Kingdom)label One Little
Indian and it was due for release in spring 1995..it was
cancelled by that label and wendy was dropped again.

She demoed another album in summer 1995 but so far
nothing has been released and no live shows have
happened. She cannot get a record deal.
She has no
manager.
She NEVER contacts any websites about her or T
Vamp and NEVER contacts any fans directly by
phone,fax,or email from 1993-2000.
She is the girlfriend
of Clash guitarist
Mick Jones for the past 5
years and has been seen at benefit concerts with him
but she DOES not perform herself. He is a middle aged
father of a teenage daughter.Nick Sayer also has a young
child
(about 8 or 9) which wendy sometimes looks
after
Wendy is six years away from 40 (34) herself.I don't
know it she has had any children herself. If any club
member knows let this club know, will you?
Dave and
Tex have both gone onto solo careers (dave is in
Bush) and they have both ruled out a T Vamp reunion
again.
The best of album was released in 1997.Wendy did
not promote it personally or do any interviews or
concerts for it but she did select the photographs used on
the sleeve. They are all from 1991 except one which is
from late 95
early 96 the one where she is sitting
with her head in her hand. This is the last photograph
taken of her until 2000.
If any one has a contact
address for Wendy, unlikely though.I would be grateful if
you could share it with this club.

All the
best with the club.I will enjoy looking through it
regularly.

i can see where your coming from my friend, and
believe me nothing would please me better than a
re-emergence of wendy, and especially with the rest of the
band in tow,
as she says in londons brilliant,
"revolution days were sadly over" and i guess thats where the
legend stays,i'd love to be back at the brixton acadamy
or the royal court in liverpool, bouncing off the
walls, with the vamp sound bellowing down me
ears,
but it aint gonna happen,i guess wendy's happy to be
out the limelight, and getting on with being
anonymous,it obviously suits her, and if it makes her happy,
then so be it,
i'd love her to turn up, and
certainly only of her own accord, but ive long since
accepted, silence for wendy is indeed golden,
there is
more evidence though that she is the excellent mick
jones girlfriend, as on the clash website, the casbah
club, there is a profile on mick, and it says they are
together,
good for her,

take care, ian,

Wendy is now a recluse - she doesn't have a fan
club or management address for
enquiries.

However, there is a very strong suspicion that she does
monitor the web sites devoted to her, so you never
know

I vaguely remember the last Transvision Vamp album (called something like 'The little Magnet Vs the Bubble of Babble') was ripped apart in reviews (0/10 in NME etc) and, as a result, was scrapped by the record company before it was released.
'London's Brilliant' was written by Elvis Costello.

Next: Tracy Tracy - where the hell is she?

Aw, shucks! This was my first ever thread!

Wendy James / Costello

Bill E (bill_e), Thursday, 16 January 2003 20:32 (twenty-three years ago)

I last spotted her sitting next to me in a shabby restaurant in North London about three years ago. I was having dinner with my friend Andre, who's in BAD, and Mick Jones was there with Wendy. I took the opportunity to remind her that she'd been on some TV review show with Brix Smith, and when my video for 'Hairstyle of the Devil' had come on, she'd said 'Is he supposed to be influenced by Serge Gainsbourg? I don't hear it. He's very esoteric, isn't he?' The way she'd said 'esoteric' it was like that was the worst thing anyone could be. They went on to discuss Edie Sedwick for the rest of the show, without wondering whether Andy Warhol mightn't have been just a teensy bit 'esoteric' himself. Anyway, Wendy did vaguely remember the scene, and was a bit embarrassed, and sort of apologised. And Mick sat on the other side of her, grinning aimiably and supportively. Wendy spent the rest of the evening telling me what a bastard Elvis Costello had been when he produced her record.

Momus (Momus), Thursday, 16 January 2003 23:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Elvis Costello a bastard? Who would have thought!

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 17 January 2003 02:15 (twenty-three years ago)

He'll be called a blowhard next.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 17 January 2003 02:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Anyone know what happened to Pol Burton (original Transvison Vamp drummer)?

I was at college with him....
