trying to figure out the lyrics, is it "Got an egg in my hand?" or "gotta make him a hand" or something completely diff?

what the hell does "gotta make him a hand" mean?
the "egg in my hand" at least makes sense if you're willing to take that leap, but in the last verse where Orbo's "gonna be the man" it doesn't make sense for him to want to make a hand for the current boss, whatever making a hand is???
what's the world coming to when Roy Orbison songs don't make any sense?
