the Optimo 4 live DJ set compilation is pretty ace, but seems to only be available upon purchase of tickets for the club in Glasgow.

the Rough Trade Counter Culture comp is ok, and there's an interesting looking collection of Mexican synthpunk sitting on my desk right now.

Do they even have streets over in Ol' Blighty or whatever it's called? I thought it was all dirt roads, I've seen all the movies about Robin Hood and don't remember a single paved road.

I second the idea that this comp looks fucking brilliant! All that Bhangra ....it's exactly like the bhangra / ragga / rap CDs I make when I download bhangra off the net.

How mainstream is this exactly? It sounds like an urban explosion according to Nation records.

phil jones (interstar), Friday, 17 January 2003 11:49 (twenty-three years ago)

i knew this thread would wake Hunta-D up!

zebedee, Friday, 17 January 2003 12:08 (twenty-three years ago)

that optimo cd is indeed very good and you can get it from their site www.optimo.co.uk quite cheaply I believe.
comp of the year will undoubtedly belong (in my mind anyway) to "gimme dat harp boy" a collection of Captain Beefhearts influences. only got it yesterday evening, stolen from my car overnight but the 2/3rds I listened to were fucking genius...

simon 803 (simon 803), Friday, 17 January 2003 14:14 (twenty-three years ago)
