now i got a couple anthony braxton / roscoe mitchell things, and they're good, but is there anything out there that swings just a little harder with that "elephant's arse" sound?

ummm, you could check out eric dolphy's bass clarinet playing. it's pretty low and farty but cooler than the baritone sax.

or maybe ... borbetomagus?

low life by brotzmann (playing a conn 1923 bass sax) and laswell. terrific and oddly danceable.

Fishbone's "Karma Tsunami".

Even better in concert, when you've got the littlest mofo onstage leaping about whilst playing a bass sax, and the biggest mofo onstage standing still and playing a little-bitty pocket trumpet. Plus it's a great rowdy song.

Prob'ly not whatcha had in mind though, eh?
