With that out of the way, uh...well, you know about the 'infamous' list (why infamous anyway?) but anyway, yay and rah. As an exact comparison? They're actually albums that are frayed at the edges, intentionally -- the way that Mellon Collie ends with a series of wonky little songs, that Soundtracks works in live versions of earlier songs. They both cover a hell of a lot of moods within the basic framework of the bands in question. Ultimately I couldn't live without either...

So, now the ultimate question - can it be said that, if I like MCIS, I will probably like Soundtracks? I like some dark & ominous music (some gothic doom metal stuff, NIN, etc), but mainly I like GOOD music... So, what do you say?

The Swans are a whole lot further out there than either NIN or Smashing Pumpkins. Swans music is much more psychologically intense and brooding in comparison.
