More guilty, guilty pleasures

Now is the time to admit to listening to sinful, awful, frivolous things that you would never, never admit to on a message board like this.

DON'T hold back...they'll all know.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 20:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Isn't that all people do here?

Hey, em@il actually said something funny!

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 20:58 (twenty-three years ago)

isn't ILM in itself a ggp?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:01 (twenty-three years ago)

(aquarium is v.lame unfortunately)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually, I wanted to post a picture of the wonderful Aquariam but this had to do.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:08 (twenty-three years ago)

ONe of my all time favourite albums of all time is Parklife.

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:15 (twenty-three years ago)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:23 (twenty-three years ago)

ASIA -- first album. Love that record, but can only play it like twice a year at the most.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:42 (twenty-three years ago)

that paul oakenfold song with the guy from crazy town on it. i am truly ashamed. its that kinda song that you cringe when you listen to it but you cant turn it off.

juiceboxxx, Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:49 (twenty-three years ago)

i always feel wierd posting to threads like this because i'm not really ashamed of anything. i probably should be ashamed of liking debbie gibson. but i'm not.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I haven't made up my mind whether that Avril Lavigne song is a guilty pleasure or not. Sometimes when drunk I find myself not hating that one Nickelback song as much as I should. Holy Dy-vah by Dio. These tend to be things I get the impression I SHOULD feel guilty about rather than actually being genuinely embarrassed, with the exception of Nickelback, which is just plain fucking horrible.

Ferg (Ferg), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 22:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Barbra Streisand, "Guilty"!

Except I'm not really guilty about it. It's great, plush disco.

Ben Williams, Tuesday, 21 January 2003 22:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I would love to know Alex in NYC's guilty pleasures. Two bits says he's blasting the Army Of Lovers album every minute he's not on here.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 22:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I hope Alex and Dan Perry (see my first line) aren't reading this. I don't need vicious bile OR cheeky innuendo right now.

I just posted two Cathy Dennis pictures in one night. I hope she reads ILM.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 22:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I like Nirvana. Really.

JP Almeida (JP Almeida), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 22:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I've got enough guilt goin on in the rest of my life to fool with feeling guilty about which particular records I listen to, sheesh!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 22:55 (twenty-three years ago)

gygax!, a great record definitely. Parklife is excellent too, whoever mentioned that. I guess all the morrissey solo albums are in the guilty pleasure category for me...

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 00:58 (twenty-three years ago)

My only guilty pleasure is hoping Warren Zevon's final album is called "Time To Go To Sleep". And that my band change it's name from the Cocaines to the Cute Cobains.

Millar (Millar), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 01:12 (twenty-three years ago)

It's funny, after a few months of ILM supersaturation, I don't feel guilty about *anything* anymore...actually, the Chris de Burgh thing still niggles, but otherwise...nope, my slate is clean, I am vindicated, thanks all!

Charlie (Charlie), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 02:54 (twenty-three years ago)

what's so shameful about Hanoi Rocks, Alex? (unless you've got everything HR recorded, but that would be a different matter.) the mission UK, though, ...

and missing persons is also not shameful because of the Bozzios -- general rule: records by ex-Zappa sidemen are not shameful and even mr. sinker prob. likes warren "duran duran" cucurullo (exception to general rule: Steve Vai in Whitesnake ... )

my present guilty pleasure --

Jesus, Alex! The Mission? Why not take my advice and try

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 13:04 (twenty-three years ago)

The first record I ever owned was Billy Preston's "That's the Way God Planned It," one of the Beatles' first releases on their Apple label. To this day I still think it's a prett good gospel/soul effort, although I can't find it on CD.

Jim M (jmcgaw), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 13:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Hanoi Rocks aren't necessarily *THAT* embarassing, but that album in particular (their big attempt to make it big via shiny Americanized production?) just isn't of the highest quality. But, both "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and their glorious cover of "Up Around the Bend" render it classic.....if a guily pleasure....in my book.

Army of Lovers, however, are indeed indefensible, my man, and you should be heartily ashamed of y'self. Compared to them, the Mission are fuckin' Zeppelin.

I have no guilty pleasures. I love the Raunchy Young Lepers. There is no guilt.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 16:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Misplaced Childhood by Marillion. Unplayed for years. But there is still a tape copy in my house somewhere. I've made sure I only have stereos/hi-fis without tape decks.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 17:04 (twenty-three years ago)

one year passes...
I kinda like the Beatles' "Hey Jude," especially when the "na na na" part starts.

What a feeling!

seven years pass...

I can't justify the crude racist lyrics, but I must say that Johnny Rebel's "Who Likes a Nigger" has a great, peppy pop hook that I just can't get out of my head. maybe I am being brainwashed? I wonder if people would catch on if I started singing, "whop bop bam bam, who likes a Tigger, and the bounce in everybody is a-gettin' much bigger" to myself in public.
