galaxie 500

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 09:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Emperor

M Carty (mj_c), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 10:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Most death, black and doom metal bands whose vocalists skreem and growl.

JP Almeida (JP Almeida), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 10:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Stone Roses

Jez (Jez), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 10:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Carty is OTM with Emperor. On the demo and the debut he at least had the decency to keep the vocal track low in the mix and throw a shitload of reverb over it. Everything after is just embarrassing (esp. his King Diamond yodeling).

Siegbran (eofor), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 10:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Probably Motley Crue.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 11:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm surprised no-one has said Talking Heads or Elvis Costello.

I can't get into the Dismemberment Plan because of fingy's voice.Oh well, too late now.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 13:00 (twenty-three years ago)

.. Guns & Roses. Great Riffs, lousy singing.

.. Depeche Mode. Get that guy a Sinutab.

dave225 (Dave225), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 13:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Hefner. I can never get over Darren Hayman's voice.

GB, Wednesday, 22 January 2003 13:11 (twenty-three years ago)

GB is OTM.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 13:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Samshing Pumpkins.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 13:23 (twenty-three years ago)

dismemberment plan. i just can't stop hearing dave mathews

ddd, Wednesday, 22 January 2003 13:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Led Zeppelin. Never could stand Robert Plant's scrape-against-the-blackboard screech.

Jim M (jmcgaw), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 13:45 (twenty-three years ago)

tindersticks

Jack Battery-Pack (Jack Battery-Pack), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 15:20 (twenty-three years ago)

The Sea And Cake
Justin Timberlake

Jay K (Jay K), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 16:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Those two should switch off.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 17:15 (twenty-three years ago)

kuosokuya. they're like fushitsusha w/ feargal sharkey on vocals. (that's if i can spell their band name??)

bob snoom, Wednesday, 22 January 2003 17:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel awful saying this, because their music is fabulous, but Flashpapr.

Ernest P. (ernestp), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 17:52 (twenty-three years ago)

ermmm, The Walkmen... singer sounds like he's yodeling alpine style.

andy, Wednesday, 22 January 2003 17:59 (twenty-three years ago)

DUH, Pere Ubu. "the singer sounds like he's yodeling alpine style" in the wake of a bris gone horribly awry.

Paula G., Wednesday, 22 January 2003 18:55 (twenty-three years ago)

GOD JT is SUCH a good candidate for this thread! Also, THE STREETS (I'd forgive a lot of the musical ennui if his voice wasn't so annoying).

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 18:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Emperor wouldn't be the same with a different vocal style, I think. But I think Dio fronting Opeth could be breakthrough...

ara, Wednesday, 22 January 2003 19:00 (twenty-three years ago)

thing is dan, we'd probably forgive his annoying voice if there wasn't any musical ennui.

In other words, We'd like it more if didn't suck.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 19:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Fairport Convention (at least Unhalfbricking -- I can deal with her better on Liege and Lief).

Phil (phil), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 21:39 (twenty-three years ago)

any rap/nu metal band

A Nairn (moretap), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 22:18 (twenty-three years ago)

The Cure

Leee (Leee), Thursday, 23 January 2003 00:28 (twenty-three years ago)

relistening to some old echo and the bunnymen, and i've realized that (at least as of now) i don't much like ian mccullough's voice. obviously it didn't bother me at one point, since i have so much of their stuff. but mccullough's voice gets on my nerves now.

other than that, my typical answer to this sort of Q would be Rush.

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 23 January 2003 00:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Dead Can Dance (primarily because of Lisa Gerrard)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 23 January 2003 00:36 (twenty-three years ago)

The Walkmen.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 23 January 2003 00:36 (twenty-three years ago)

alex is OTM.

lemme also add Yes -- Jon Anderson sounds (and looks) like a eunuch.

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 23 January 2003 00:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Wow, Brendan Perry was always the one whom I didn't like.

Leee (Leee), Thursday, 23 January 2003 00:56 (twenty-three years ago)

(I'm surprised the thread went this long before someone mentioned The Cure!)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 23 January 2003 01:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Slovenly! And maybe the Crucifucks.

Douglas (Douglas), Thursday, 23 January 2003 01:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Ultrasound would have been huge (arf!) if Tiny didn't have such a shitty voice

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 23 January 2003 01:49 (twenty-three years ago)

(I'm surprised the thread went this long before someone mentioned The Cure!)

By the same token I'm amazed nobody's said Blur. I'm not going to, though.

Charlie (Charlie), Thursday, 23 January 2003 03:50 (twenty-three years ago)

No, i'd still hate Blur regardless

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 23 January 2003 03:55 (twenty-three years ago)

The Strokes.

Burr, Thursday, 23 January 2003 04:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Mogwai.

Kidding.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Possibly Dylan. Possibly. And maybe the Divine Comedy. Maybe.

DavidM (DavidM), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Slovenly? Are you fucking kidding? A fella's entitled to his opinion I guess.

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Limp Bizkit.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 23 January 2003 19:38 (twenty-three years ago)
