The auditions for American Idol II:Electric Boogaloo aired last night.

(I wonder if any of the "singers" have friends that are too scared to tell them how bad they are.. or if they have ever recorded & listened to themselves sing ... truly awful.)

I would think the jusdges would get pretty tired of hearing hacks singing temptations songs... What song would you sing:
#1. if you wanted to make a statement.
#2. if you seriously wanted to get to the next stage - assuming you could carry a tune.

dave225 (Dave225), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 12:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Example:

#1. "Warthog" - the Ramones

#2. "See How We Are" - X

(These aren't mine - just initial thoughts. I haven't really thought about it yet...)

dave225 (Dave225), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 12:10 (twenty-three years ago)

"Don't Cry Ann" - Pavement

"They Call Me Naughty Lola/Ich Bin Die Fesche Lola" - Ute Lemper

"Boilermaker" - The Jesus Lizard

"Playboy Stabtone Bloodbath Go" - Truman's Water

"Car"-Come

Spot the odd one out.

matt riedl (veal), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 21:32 (twenty-three years ago)

I would do "Lose Yourself", and in the last chorus, I would drop trou and take a big fat morning-after-getting-pissed leak all over the Simon gobshite, and then upon seeing the size of my enormous bulge uncloaked, Paula Abdul would have no choice but to get it on with me right then and there, Emilio be damned.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 21:34 (twenty-three years ago)

"uncloaked"

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Thursday, 23 January 2003 13:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I wonder how soon would you be kicked out when you'd start merrily with:

"Die Fahne hoch, die Reihen fest geschlossen/S.A. marschiert mit ruhig festem Schritt/Kam'raden die Rotfront und Reaktion erschossen/Marschier'n im Geist In unsern Reihen mit"

or (phonetic):

"Soy'ooz neroosh'imi resp'ooblik svob'odnikh/Splot'ila nav'eki vel'ikaia Rus/Da zdr'avstvooyet sozdanni voley nar'odov/Yed'ini mog'oochi Sov'etski Soy'ooz"

or the old classic:

"Arise ye pris'ners of starvation/Arise ye wretched of the earth/For justice thunders condemnation/A better world's in birth!"

or even better in these days (no points for guessing where this comes from!):

"A homeland that extended its wings over the horizon/And wore the glory of civilization as a garment/Blessed be the land of the two rivers/A homeland of glorious determination and tolerance."

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Friday, 24 January 2003 00:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Ha! Everybody knows that jolly old tune, surely? Especially nice if you sing it the old way, with the line about how Stalin reared us...

OK, all together now, from the top of your lungs:
Sl'avsa ot'echestvo n'ashe svob'odnoye/Dr'oojbi nar'odov nady'ojni opl'ot/P'artia L'enina, - s'ila narodnaya/Nas k torjestv'oo kommun'izma vedy'ot
