Listened to a few tracks on the radio, twisted/ off the wall techno/ house/electro hybrid music from Finland. Popular with tech-house DJs.

Their Lucky Bastards Living Up North album from 1999 is pretty cool. They're currently on tour providing electronic accopaniment to Kings Of Convenience singer Erlend Øye's solo effort. They've produced and remixed his recent Symptom of Disease 12".

Are we talking, like, a Ural 13 Diktators wacky-Finns thing or actually twisted?

They're releasing Velcropopvichy in the UK soon. Stays away from the 'wacky Finns' thing. Bass line has a lot of chugging momentum and lush synth melody over the top.

I've think "Electric Appliances" is one of the best techno tunes I heard last year, electro feel and quirky as fuck. A tune worth searching out.

Well it's not that I mind the "wacky-Finns" thing: I can't help but go a little mushy inside when Ural 13 do their cute little trance build-ups. Wacky-Finns = the next French house! (Okay maybe not.)
