How much "older" material is on Anthology
that is not on Compilation?

Thanks,
Tom

I think some of those tracks may be on Odditties but I don't have it to hand to check..

CD 1 is both sides of "Tally Ho," all of Boodle Boodle Boodle and Great Sounds Great..., both sides of "Getting Older," some of Live Dead Clean, "Oddity" and a studio version of I think "At the Bottom."

CD 2 is highlights from Vehicle, Modern Rock and Unknown Country, plus both songs from the "Trapped in Amber" flexi and both sides of "Late Last Night" (cough cough ahem--hey, I don't think Flying Nun gets namechecked in a Clean song...).

I came very close to starting this thread myself.

My former flatmate v. kindly gave me his CD of 'Here Come the Cars' by David Kilgour, which is also v. essential.

I have 'Compilation' and like it lots. Does 90s Clean sound like Dave Kilgour's solo stuff? Which is nice enough and all, but a lot of it sounds like exercises in guitar tone that aren't too fussed about getting your attention - kinda like Unrest I s'pose, but they broke that up with big slobbering p*o*p tunes like MakeOut Club. I guess I'm wondering if latter-day clean is all repetitive shinysmooth like 'Sugarmouth' or more raggedypoppy. Is 'Vehicle' the one to go for?

I really like Modern Rock

Vehicle's great and more accessible than their previous stuff.

more accessible than "Getting Older" and "Tally Ho"? crikey, it should have been top ten!!!

moidern rock is the keyboard record very hamish dominated but there is the one that sounds like stereolab and 'stomp the guru' is a rewrite of 'rock lobster', unknown country is the lovely little odd one and the last one was really not very good at all. robert scott should reform the bats instead.

Yes! I just listened to this last night. I think the first disc is better but the second disc has enough high points.

If someone had "Compilation" AND "Vehicle," though, then it'd be iffier. But hell, go for it! It's a great comp.
