hugh ogilvie (hugh ogilvie), Friday, 24 January 2003 10:25 (twenty-three years ago)

a difficult question i've posed for myself- excuse the spelling mistake? let others have their say and i'll then list my top 5 with reasons...

Nas - The Last Real N**** Alive (excuse asterisks, due to work computer use!) is just the latest example of why, but it goes all the way back with him. "It's only right that I was born to use mics..."

M Carty (mj_c), Friday, 24 January 2003 14:51 (twenty-three years ago)

That would be MC Mario of course of course.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 24 January 2003 14:53 (twenty-three years ago)

MC Escher, obviously.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Friday, 24 January 2003 16:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Momus to thread for very obvious reasons.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 24 January 2003 16:55 (twenty-three years ago)

MC Stephen Hawking!

on a serious note...the greatest rapper / exponent of the art of hip hop might be better!

it's difficult, but posdnous or q-tip come very high on the list - for their non - violent philosophy , incredible flow and stunning originality every time they take the mic. they have humour and humanity and deal with social issues with flair and intelligence. and the MUSIC is dope!!

next would be nas and gza, with chuck d in close contention but circulating a different sphere of reference.

keep on coming with those suggestions.

I don't know, names are flashing in my mind faster than I can back 'em up...Cee-Lo, Kool Keith, Lyrics Born, Chali 2na, KRS-One, Eric B. & Rakim, Tupac, Gza, Raekwon, Busta....eh, I'm gonna say ME!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 27 January 2003 15:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Well obviously he isn't, but that album of his was quite good.

Good to see MC Hugh Ogilvie stepping up to the mic.
