Jesus, beyond parody.

It'll sound like every other Autechre release ie like a migraine (ducks from brickbats from Gareth et al).

the only thing I've ever been disappointed with by this band were Confield and Gantz Graf. Especially Gantz Graf - purely dreadful self indulgent shite. Hopefully they'll remember what it is to make decent music with these ones. Is that a real tracklisting or a joke?

I reckon "Blip blip beeeeeeeeeep rumble thud thud blip blip". Which transalates as "listen to our expensive kit and our masterful control of filters". I don't know what it is about Autechre, I like a lot of other very similar acts but they just leave me cold.

It's taken from Pitchfork. (Not much of an answer, is it.)

my guess is that it won't sound like the mp3 i got off slsk a month ago claiming to be theme of sudden roundabout, which has got to be a fake... the first five minutes are slow and really oldschool sounding, moody pads, big 80s drum machine sounds, juno-esque analogue monosynth blurts, not very autechre, nowhere near as intricate as their old stuff but i was still thinking, well, it's a big change and not very well done, but it could be real... then a horribly out of tune piano SLAMS in and the whole thing clunks along artlessly for another six minutes and i become 99.9% sure it's fake, but anyone know for sure?

the sad thing is i'll probably still like the fake a lot more than the real thing anyway, since the real thing will probably sound like some text files loaded into soundforge as raw data and fed through frequency shifting filters to give it that hollow rdevine low-rate-mp3 sound. (i wonder who this is by, though. heh, i'd never have heard marumari or flashbulb if it weren't for their fake boc/mom/aphex tracks on napster)

Those top two photographs are two of my favourite ever.

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 24 January 2003 19:11 (twenty-three years ago)

It's in the post to me apparantly so I'll know soon.

It'll definitely sound a little bit wow, a little bit hissy and all of a flutter.

Because it's on cassete.

Damn, that's five minutes of my life wasted putting it on a CD.

tony herrington dropped a track from the new autechre on that resonance fm thingy yesterday. it was really good and more listenable than confield i thought.

fields of salmon (fieldsofsalmon), Friday, 24 January 2003 21:14 (twenty-three years ago)

I heard it last week and it sounded like a more rythmically dense Confield, more beats-oriented. One track in particular, the seventh one I think, was almost in-your-face "hiptronica" (or is it "glitch-hop"?). I didn't really like Confield, but this Draft lp sounded really nice.

Etienne (Etienne), Sunday, 26 January 2003 10:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I was hoping there would be a snarky comment here, good thinking Stevo!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 26 January 2003 15:03 (twenty-three years ago)

got a promo cassette and it sounds dull as fuck. could well be a grower, but right now: disappointing and, for them, really kind of obvious.

Wyndham Earl, Sunday, 26 January 2003 16:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Heyy, I got the promo-cassette thingy too. Nice cover. The music sounds exactly like Gareth's pictures. Not as dense as Confield, with a bit more breathing space.

tracklisting is no joke btw.

Omar (Omar), Sunday, 26 January 2003 17:45 (twenty-three years ago)

are the files on slsk genuine? they mostly seem to be in folders called "4 track promo", but some contain all 10 tracks...

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 26 January 2003 18:13 (twenty-three years ago)

gareth, the top pic (and you've heard this before) looks like america. the second pic could be glasgow. the third is more like i'd expect autechre to sound like.
