The Groom's Still Waiting At The Altar

is a Bob Dylan song from sometime in the later 70s - I don't know if it's on any album. I like its apocalypse-boogie vibe a lot and I wondered if anyone else did. I have also heard it said that when Dylan plays live these days EVERY SINGLE SONG sounds like this one so I wondered if that was true too.

wow, it sounds amazing. what a great title.

No, not true at all. Just those old pesky rumors that people like to keep putting out there. Heck, a lot of people think he's still out there strumming an acoustic softly. It ain't no greatest hits tour, it's a full blown show.

It's on one of those Bootleg series albums, I believe. Maybe the first 3 disc set. I like it OK.

Been listening to that Rolling Thunder stuff. Kind of disappointed. Too many over-familiar tunes.

That track is on Biograph, but I think it's also on the cd issue of Shot of Love. Can't speak to Dylan's tour these days. Saw him pre-Time out of Mind and it was decent. But definitely not an apocalyptic boogie performance.

I saw Dylan at Tramp's in NY and he stunned everybody - he looked like he was having fun

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 24 January 2003 19:45 (twenty-three years ago)

It is on the Cd of Shot of Love. It's a really great song.

That sound got a lot of attention from critics when it first came out (as a B-side to a single, I think) because it harkened back to his mid-60s rock. Great song.
But no, his set list is very varied and you never know what he'll play on any given night. I saw him a couple months ago and while I didn't enjoy his latest fascination with the electric keyboard, it was an amazing show.
But not as amazing as the fake-wig-and-beard show at Newport last summer. That was one for the ages.

Check out his new look! God, he's the greatest.

Do you think Johnny Depp will look like that in 30 years time and they'll say "Pah, that's sooo Dylan circa 2003? Arriviste scum!"?

His transformation into Tom Petty is almost complete. But he'll need to look more weathered.
