superstring is one of the best of the german house teracks (along w/ transformation, no fate and acperience).

It's a brilliant track, but somehow it was never my fave Eye-Q tune. Goahead "Freebeach", Java "Cosmos", Zyon "No Fate", Brainchild "Symmetry" and "Synfonica", Vernon's Wonderland "Vernon's Wonderland", Virtual Symmetry "The Virtual Symmetry" and even Cygnus X "The Orange Theme" were all higher on my list. And does anyone ever play "Superstring" in the original mix in sets anymore? Everywhere I go they spin either the Rank 1 Mix or the Rank 1 Deep Dub (and fortunately everybody ignores the dreadful Future Breeze Mix). Re: remixes, I haven't heard the Speedlight Mix and Oliver Lieb H.C.L. Mix from the 1994 rerelease...what are they like?

Siegbran (eofor), Sunday, 26 January 2003 19:25 (twenty-three years ago)

And for those interested: the flipside to the original "Superstring" vinyl, "Positron", has been rereleased last year on double vinyl with the original mix, a Cygnus X 2002 update, and Marco V and Armin van Buuren remixes.

siegbran, that rank1 rmx is rubbish! do you really prefer that to the orig12? there is no fluffyness!

dont know if ive heard the lieb rmx, havent got it, but may well have heard it played out. will investigate.

I like the Rank 1 remix less than I did when it came out - the overuse of those massive supersaw synths by everyone and his dog in the last two years has made even the older tunes pretty annoying, and the fact that Rank 1 continued to rip themselves off for each consecutive single hasn't helped either.

The original is cool at home (the Eye-Q compilations are still in heavy rotation here, I can tell you), but somehow it doesn't really fit into a current set. It's same with nearly all of the old 1993 Frankfurt-style tunes: for a melodic trance set they're too fast, and for a harder & faster set they're not beefed up enough to "compete" with the current crop of fat-bass hardtrance. Hence, nearly all the cool Eye-Q tracks have been remixed to either slow them down (Ayla "Singularity Brainchild II", Limited Growth "No Fate", the Rank 1 & Ferry Corsten remixes of "The Orange Theme") of or pump some steroids in them (the Marco V remixes of "Positron" and "Cafe Del Mar").

I never did the list, I had an exam I think but there's still a few there to keep you going. If you like those I'm sure I can recommend WAY TOO MANY more.
