interesting NYC sale

There's a little store that sells mostly Latin music and hip-hop--LOTS of cassettes--on 23rd Avenue in Manhattan, between Park and Lexington. It's closing for good in five days, and I stopped in today. Most of what's on sale is crap, but there are a few goodies: the Landspeed best-ofs on a bunch of Cold Chillin' artists (MC Shan, BDP, Roxanne Shante, Rap & Polo, Biz Markie) as well as Prince's Emancipation, The Real Hip-Hop: Best of D&D Studios (a great, Premier-heavy comp from '99 w/LOTS of classic cuts) and a few others, each for $5 or under. Might be your thing, might not. But the price is hard to beat. Just thought you might want to know.

Oh, and the store is in the middle of the north side of the block, and still has an Arthur Treacher's awning over it, and will likely have a sandwich board announcing its imminent closing in front, if that helps.

(and yes everything I mentioned and everything else too is on CD)

Wow, an artefact from Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips? Goddamn, that's like finding a portal to the Land of the Lost. Is it staffed by breakdancing Sleestacks?

I *think* I bought The Real Hip-Hop from this place when I was in NYC, oddly enough, along with a not-too-bad Jah Screw dancehall comp.

I will check it out (assuming you mean 23rd Street).
