So you know when you're listening to kind of dancehall influenced house or maybe just dancehall and there's so often that scream that sounds like "george white", or "judge wise". Who are these people?

Seriously though what does it say, it's like of dancehall or ragga origin or something.

And did anyone else not know either? Where did it come from etc would be cool to know too?

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 13:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Time for the medication?

Bhahaha...seriously folks, try putting the keywords in google.

robotman, Tuesday, 28 January 2003 13:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Erm.....I think the point is that there's no way it says "george white" or "judge wise"

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 13:48 (twenty-three years ago)

do you mean the little snippet that is all the way through double 99's rip groove

always wondered that myself

james (james), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 13:54 (twenty-three years ago)

That's the sound that came to mind for me - sounds like "Rock wide!"

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 13:56 (twenty-three years ago)

It's in looooooads of things though, I always presumed everyone else knew. I probably know Rip Groove if I heard it.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:03 (twenty-three years ago)

"dubwise"

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 15:06 (twenty-three years ago)

king among men.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 15:08 (twenty-three years ago)

'rock wide' you say? there always seemed to be more of a 'brrr' pronunication before it tho, as in 'brock out!' or 'break out' - but i still have no idea what it really is

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:07 (twenty-three years ago)

coulda been worse: my dad asked me if a CD he was playing was dub. it was friggin' rocksteady. the moron! ;-)

nathalie (nathalie), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:08 (twenty-three years ago)

as timestretched on Double 99 'RIP Groove', Todd Terry 'Jumpin (Rhythm Masters mix from '96) and numerous jungle tracks i cannot identify

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Anyone know the origins?

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Surely on RIP Groove it's "Reewind"

phil jones (interstar), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:28 (twenty-three years ago)

no ... listening again, it isn't ... sorry

phil jones (interstar), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:36 (twenty-three years ago)

"dubwise" is more plausible ... otherwise "unwind"?

phil jones (interstar), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:40 (twenty-three years ago)

dubwise sounds like the answer to me, it would be cool if it was George White, some long lost legend.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 17:07 (twenty-three years ago)

george "bullwackie" white, proprietor of kingston's famed studio jamnspork

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 17:11 (twenty-three years ago)

george white vs ribbit oink

gi66y, Tuesday, 28 January 2003 17:29 (twenty-three years ago)

"BROCK WILD!" ???

Paul (scifisoul), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 18:08 (twenty-three years ago)

maybe they're just big fans of Weird Science

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 18:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I've always thought it was dubwise. Have a search through these and see what you come up with Google: Patois Good luck.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 21:44 (twenty-three years ago)

"Brock Wild" = shoutout to Hawkwind haha!
