not specifically the obv best ones, in which the guest outshines the host mc (hello jigga-next time u want em to produce you take a leaf out of nas's book and don't let him rhyme!)
some guest rappers are just ALWAYS shit (hello RBX!)
my favourite guest verse right now is q-tip's on mobb deep's drink away the pain. i like the way it is seemingly totally unconnected to p's and hav's verses. he rhymes about hillfigger being in his crew or summat! and he has a cool voice.

Verse Two: Q-Tip

Tommy Hil was my nigga, and other's couldn't figure
How me and Hilfiger used to move through with vigor
Had to sit and plan on how to make these seven figures
Said the Brinks is comin through, at Fashion Avenue
At Tuesday at two, now we gotta form a crew
Now we gotta forum a crew, of motherfuckers
who ain't goin out like suckers
Told me call Karl Kani, and all my other brothers
I told my sister Walker, who was the smoothest talker
Negotiate the deal with them other money stalkers
Diesel drove the the beemer, the hatchback of course
Nautica'll navigate to keep us on course
Polo's acting bolo trying to say he the Boss
I said shut the fuck up, the kid is out where the loot's at
Got a big trey pound, picture just to swoop back
Timb is on the roof with the twelve gauge rifle
Scope is on the top so you know he livin Eiffel
Took the aim of Oswald, caught him North in the face
All them other kids they had they tools aimed at space
Levi had the snub so you know they gettin laced
Donna Karan was cryin, cause mad shells was flyin
Damn all we want is a piece of the pie and
Nike scooped the sess cause he moves like Air
Threw them shits up in the trunk now we up out here
Got back to the mansion, to divvy up the paper
Helle Hansen was the brain of the whole entire caper
So she felt it was right, for her to get the whole slice
Everybody in the crew didn't think it was nice
I guess not, and guess what's hot, so guess what
Guess took the jigga, and jigged her in the gut

it's kinda like a shit version of gza's themed rhymes on 'labels' and 'fame'

the internet (scg), Thursday, 30 January 2003 17:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Killah Priest's verse on the Gza remix of JSBX's "Greyhound" is flat-out awe-inspiring.

"Wait, man, that's just a lie,
it's a lie she tells her friends.
'cause the real song, the real song
that she won't even admit to herself
[is] the beat in her heart.
It's a song lots of people know.
It's a painful song
but I wrote a sad truth
but alas for sad songs
a painful wish.
But wishin' won't make it so, Joe
With a pretty kiss for a pretty face
can't have it's way
though tramps like us, we were born to pay."

CL Smooth on Gang Starr's "Dwyck", where he rhymes "rhinocerous" with 'prosperous" and "oespohagus". And says "i left my Philly at home / Do you have another? / I want to get blunted my brother." Premier responds with "Lemonade was a popular drink and still is". Good lad.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Friday, 31 January 2003 03:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Smooth B on 'DWYCK'
I left my Phillie at home
Do you have another?
I wanna get blunted my brother
Now may I make a mark
Then make a spark over this phat track
Or should I say dope beat
Subtract, delete
All of the wick wack that wanna be abstract
But they lack the new knack that's comin from way way back
Hey yo Premier, please pass that buddha sack
You hear we quit?
No way, bullshit
I told ya before we come back wit more hits
I provide bright flava, so you could sketch me
Do me a favor, dont try and catch me
Step me ahead of the game I'm not a lame
Ask him, he'll tell you the same he knows my name
Smooth, I drop jewels like, paraphenalia
I'm infallable, not into failure
Like a rhinocerus, my speed is prosperous
And pure knowledge expands from my esophagus
I write here tonite to bring truth to the light
My dialogue is my own cause Smooth B will neva bite

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Saturday, 1 February 2003 02:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Sheryl Crow's kickass verse on "Time Will Come Today". I hate her, too, but......KICKS ASS.

matt riedl (veal), Saturday, 1 February 2003 18:41 (twenty-three years ago)

aw sorry, i didn't realise their was an earlier thread on this! i thought i was being all original.

really though, i'm continually confused by that q tip verse i cited; how are guess contributions made? cuz q tip was seemingly fucking miles away from prodigy and havoc when he dropped those rhymes AS IT HAS ABSOLUTELY FUCK ALL TO DO WITH WHAT THEY'RE RAPPING ABOUT

DO YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN

the internet (scg), Monday, 3 February 2003 16:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Guru's verse from DWYCK (Lemonade was a popular drink...) was supposedly a freestlye, so he's almost off the hook. ALMOST

Oops (Oops), Monday, 3 February 2003 21:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Kurious on "Young Kids from Nowhere" by, ugh, who's that by?

gaz (gaz), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:19 (twenty-three years ago)

That "Lemonade was a popular drink and it still is" line is either one of the most brilliant or worst lines in rap history.
