i admit to liking cusive domestica and listening to it once in a while. downloaded the new album, which features cello, some moments very akin to apocalyptica(y 'know)..and then i shudder as i remember the metallica covers apocalypitca did..but then again there are some other pleasing and great moments.
yeah, are they classic or dud?

I've been listening to them a lot recently. Classic as far as I'm concerned. See, emo doesn't suck.

"The Ugly Organ" is amazing, esp. the opening tracks and "Staying Alvie" (not a Bee Gees cover, by the way).

the split they did w/eastern youth was quite good.

four years pass...
classic

still haven't heard happy hollow though

but the ugly organ is a fantastic record. really dense, textured, varied, and emotional. a rollercoaster ride

dud, always and forever.

Erm, "Happy Hollow" is pretty darn good.

Total classic. My fave being The Ugly Organ, but Happy Hollow was also a great record. Tim Kasher has to be my favorite screamer when he gets into full throttle.

Classic when they had that cellist who really improved the band's sound. Dud otherwise.

nine months pass...

i've been listening to domestica loads in the last few days. i used to listen to it all the time, and gradually the songs lost their potency. but i'm really approaching it with refreshed ears right now. perhaps the most straightforward and direct thing they did, but very effective and stirring all the same.
