Upon hearing of the unspeakable nature of the pools, Tiga could not hold his peace. "Being of the Western school of thought with regards to bathing," he interjected "I would beseech your employer to use chlorine." "Besides," he added slyly, "pleasure is greatly enhanced by slight irritation and some modicum of hygeine."

Glorious. It must be the cold weather but I've been itching for some decent new electroclash and the new DJ Kicks mix from Tiga, of American Gigolo fame, is just the tonic. It pushes all the retro buttons all those comps were pushing a year ago, but this time you can dance to it and, significantly, Miss Kittin isn't on it. Tiga covers Felix & Miss Kittin's "Madame Hollywood", transforming it from the usual robofrost into a torch song sounding uncannily like Soft Cell, which it turns out is exactly the right thing to do. Martini Bros' "The Biggest Fan" is another Almondalike, and there's an actual Soft Cell instrumental on there too. So, Soft Cell.

The liner notes are brilliant, too.

Oh dear, what a car crash of a post - never be drunk on the internet. Translation: the new DJ Kicks mix by Tiga is good, but the sleeve notes are slightly bizarre.

i really heart the "madame hollywood" cover; i kinda think the album needs more vocals, though. otoh i've only heard it a couple of times on the tube, which isn't exactly ideal.
