after the Adventures in Stereo C&D, how about one for its co-founding member's latest musical combo?

IMO? Classic, completely.

London is classic song. The rest leaves me cold.

one year passes...
So I've just found out that the theme tune to my new favourite midweek trash telly show, No Angels on Channel 4, is by these people.

The track's called "The Light Brigade" and it's brilliant - at first I thought it was someone like Komeda (the rest of the show's soundtrack is proper old 60s motown/soul stuff) or even a previously unknown Stereolab track, cos it's very modern-sounding but, y'know, pastichey kitschy.

Anyway, I think it's really good - anything else worth seeking out or is "The Light Brigade" the only thing worth hearing?

i love probably three-quarters of the first album (on which "the light brigade" resides).. the second album is patchier but still worth investigating.

Charlie, I was OBSESSED with the Cut Copy remix of 'The Light Brigade' last year (ah, still am). It's fucking on point. Find it on the b-side of the 'I'll Walk Right On' 7".

it's also on the australian cd single of "the light brigade", which is way easy to find secondhand round here if anyone wants it

I won the uh... first album (ithink) off RRR

doesn't do much for me.

First album ("Self-Assembly") is very enjoyable - very mod/northern soul/etc with some rather tasteful sampling and organic electronic flourishes. Make sure you get the US version with the added singles ("Light Brigade" and "London" aren't on the original album I believe).

Second album ("The Surface Noise") is a very spotty carbon copy of the debut. Upsetting.

I don't like the singing much.

On closer inspection, the P4ul W3ll3r patronage worries me immensely.

so does all their stuff sound like "The Light Brigade" or is that their "My Red Hot Car" (so to speak)?

that first album is definitely all in a similar vein. take the chance, it's easy to find that album secondhand
