I am attempting to locate about 26 specific issues of Melody Maker Magazine issued from March 14, 1970 through January 4, 1997. Can anyone assist?

My friend used to keep all his old NME's and Melody Makers. The pile went up to the ceiling then started rotting. An unbearable stink.

I need to get rid of mine. My parents want to clear out their attic and I have no room in my own house for them -- have nearly all Makers from 1991 to 97 and some from 1989/90. Is there a market for these. I have tonnes of NMEs also.

sixteen years pass...

I suppose why I get so fkn moody whenever tone-policed by white indie guys is partly down to memories like this (letter to Melody Maker 1996) and the fact that Combat 18 used to drop me postcards saying they knew when I was in the office. It is an absolute travesty that it’s 2022 and the complete print archives of Melody Maker and NME are not available online.

You can find some back issues here:

I'm certain there was a plan for this to happen. I've an idea that there was some complexity to it though - possibly because most of the contracts will have only been for one use?

It’s likely that nobody at the Singaporean software company that bought both NME and Melody Maker even knows that they have 74 years of a weekly paper unarchived, if they ever did acquire copies

I am holding on to my stash, running more or less from summer 91 to fall 94 with scattered issues before and after, like my life. It absolutely did shape my interest in a number of acts around that time (Me in early 1992 picking up a new issue: "Suede are the best new band in Britain? Well let me read a bit..."), introduced me to a ton of writers who are now social media friends or more, and in their entirety, including the ads and listings, are social artifacts in their own right. Limited of course, in terms of perceived audience and expectation; claims to universality read a lot more coldly these days, but the fact alone that in response to a general question I was the one able to dig up who exactly accidentally christened Daft Punk with his review of their Darlin' incarnation -- namely, Dave Jennings -- and that he learned about this and we all got to tell him that a year before his sudden passing makes me forever grateful.

Aw man, I got excited for that back issues link above, but the time period I read it the most and would love to revisit, 1974-83, is missing.
