do you have an earthshattering personal experience where you were forced to separate the (wo)man from the art? when you first realized a musician was nothing like how they presented themselves in their music and/or pr?

When I started making my own.

twelve years pass...

The new La Luz record has a ton of allusions to this and it struck me as a really brazen thing to do. It's not quite a full blown concept album based around this idea (like, say, the American Analog Set's the Golden Band is), but it's not far off.

What are some other albums/songs in this vein? I'm feeling really cynical and need to wallow in it for a bit...

Whoops, misread this a bit. I was thinking more along the lines of a musician/band voicing their disillusionment with the quote en quote "SCENE."

Does anyone have any recs? Or should I start a new topic?
