I haven't heard anything about Primus on this board, so what do you think?
Have you checked Les CLaypool's Frog Brigade yet?

I haven't listened to much Primus and/or Les Claypool of late, but I will say that I had the good fortune of being at a small-club Primus show around, oh, must have been 91 or 92, in Hollywood - actually it was an unadvertised show at Rikki Rachmann's club that was being taped for "Headbanger's Ball" - and I had a fantastically great time, esp. when they played "Jerry was A Race Car Driver", and everyone was bouncing up and down and I was as tempted as I've ever been to join a "mosh pit" - but, perhaps wisely, I demurred.

Definitely search out, off of the newest Frog Brigade album:

"Buzzards of Green Hill", "Barrington Hall", "Cosmic Highway"

This newest album gets a little bit away from the balls-out acid-spiked oddity of older Primus and actually shows a lot of Les's Paul McCartney and Tom Waits influence, and has some really cool musos on it (such as saxitar freak Skerik and "Fish" the OG drummer from Fishbone).

But yeah, I'm a big Primus freak, they've had a huge impact on my appreciation of music...when I was 15, one day I bought their Sailing the Seas of Cheese and Praxis' Transmutation (strangely enough a band which includes Brain who joined Primus later as well as Buckethead who has played with them alot) and I've never been the same since.

On a related topic, Les Claypool, Brain, Buckethead, and Bernie Worrell are in the studio right now recording an album. ( googly-eyed "eek" emoticon goes here)

amen on the primus. i think i bought SUCK ON THIS, FRIZZLE FRY (still the best i think for balancing their jammy tendencies and their moshrock), and CHEESE on consecutive weekends in high school and couldn't stop listening to them.

i almost ditched a high-school fieldtrip to sneak around the corner to a club to see them with fishbone, until i realized i had no money.

around PORK SODA, i stopped listening.

twenty years pass...

really like this new Claypool Lennon Delirium track with Willow Smith on vocals
more of a jam than a song, sounds classic and contemporary at the same time.
