"Do You Believe in Magic?" by the Lovin' Spoonful, obviously: one of the greatest songs ever recorded.
"Rubber Ring", of course - a Smiths song about Smiths songs.

"Music was my first love / and it will be my last / music of the future / music of the past..."

Undeniable. Undeniable shite, maybe, but undeniable nonetheless. The White Noise Revisited by The Boo Radleys is pretty good.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 13 February 2003 09:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Not that i listen to it much anymore, but Rancid's song Radio summed it up well...

When i got the music, i got a place to go.

Actually, there are more: "Brimful of Asha," Cornershop.
"World Is Spinning at 45 RPM," Pizzicato Five.
"I Must Not Think Bad Thoughts," X.
"Jackie Wilson Said (I'm in Heaven When You Smile)," Van Morrison (okay, I know so many people here hate him, but any song that big-ups Jackie Wilson at least has its heart in the right place) (plus St. Dominic's Preview was Morrison's best album by far, and is great even if you hate Astral Weeks) (no I don't want your copy Tom I've got me own)
"Kalimba Song," Earth Wind and Fire.

"hardcore pops are fun" & "interesting results" by ariel pink

flappy bird, Monday, 12 October 2015 23:47 (ten years ago)

Now way back in the days when hip-hop began
With Coke LaRock, Kool Herc, and then Bam
B-boys ran to the latest jam
But when it got shot up they went home and said "Damn
There's got to be a better way to hear our music every day
B-boys getting blown away but coming outside anyway"
They tried again outside in Cedar Park
Power from a street light made the place dark
But yo, they didn't care, they turned it out
I know a few understand what I'm talking about
Remember Bronx River, rolling thick
With Kool DJ Red Alert and Chuck Chillout on the mix
When Afrika Islam was rocking the jams
And on the other side of town was a kid named Flash
Patterson and Millbrook projects
Casanova all over, ya couldn't stop it
The Nine Lives Crew, the Cypress Boys
The real Rock Steady taking out these toys

can anyone confirm or deny this? I'm not very familiar with yoko ono's musical output, but google isn't turning up anything (although it did lead me a cover of "Don't Worry Kyoko" by Redd Kross side-project Tater Totz)
