No offense meant, really .. but what specifically did Pope JP2 do for peace that was so extraordinary?

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 18:31 (twenty-three years ago)

he decided against a new Crusade

that's it -- the Last Sign Of The Apocalypse. We are all doomed -- even more so now.

obviously this is a savage indictment of the nobel peace prize, etc
but at the end of the day it won't make things any worse, except for bono's ego...
i mean, they gave it to henry kissinger before didn't they?
so i suppose it could be worse...

at least its not bush and blair

robin (robin), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 18:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Bush and Blair would be excellent candidates, considering that Kissinger is a former winner.

I'd take George Ryan over Bono any day.

It's just that the Catholic in me would rather that it go to a bad guy who did a good thing vs. a bad singer who did a good thing.

Bono nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize? That's ridiculous. Have we forgotten so soon the valuable role The Edge played in the Dayton Peace Accords or Larry Mullens Jr's untiring volunteer hospital work in East Timor?
