Does this make me a bad person?

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 22 February 2003 10:41 (twenty-three years ago)

No.

wl (wl), Saturday, 22 February 2003 10:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Who cares?

(Sorry, that was cheap. But I had to.)

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Saturday, 22 February 2003 10:49 (twenty-three years ago)

No you didn't.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 22 February 2003 10:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, not strictly speaking.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Saturday, 22 February 2003 10:52 (twenty-three years ago)

One more crack out of you and I'm taking your link off my blog, mister.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 22 February 2003 10:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Heh. Ok, ok, I'll stop. I guess this was what some other people were talking about on the other thread... irrational Norah Jones bitterness. I didn't really realize it before tonight, but I'm eat up with it.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Saturday, 22 February 2003 10:58 (twenty-three years ago)

There ain't no good guy. There ain't no bad guy. There's only you and me and we just disagree.

Ahem.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 22 February 2003 11:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Sage words.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Saturday, 22 February 2003 11:03 (twenty-three years ago)

sigh

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 22 February 2003 11:03 (twenty-three years ago)

it depends on what you're gonna do with the merchandise..

kevin brady (groeuvre), Saturday, 22 February 2003 11:05 (twenty-three years ago)

OK, there's tons of pretty neat to great stuff on there. But "American Pie" is awful, and John Denver is so bland he always makes me go, "eh." I don't know why I'd single him out as bland out of that crop, but there you go. (The Toots & the Maytals version of "Country Roads" is ace, but that's another matter.)

wl (wl), Saturday, 22 February 2003 11:13 (twenty-three years ago)

"American Pie" is pretty much the only song on there I don't like. Which is why I'll leave that song off when I download ALL ELEVEN CDS.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 22 February 2003 11:14 (twenty-three years ago)

How 'bout this: does the '76-'77 disc seem out-of-place? Overall it seems closer to an "AM Gold" comp or something. I'll admit I'm not familiar with all the songs, but there are lots of artists I don't associate with the "singer-songwriter" tag (well, OK they might sing and write songs, but I think you get my gist): Chicago, Hall & Oates, Frampton for starters.

Also, I wouldn't consider "Dreamweaver" to be a good example, and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" is more, what, disco? (I haven't heard it in a while) even though Elton easily fits within the singer-songwriter thing.

wl (wl), Saturday, 22 February 2003 11:31 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know if it makes you a bad person, but if I did not know anything else about you I would consider you a serious dud.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Saturday, 22 February 2003 15:50 (twenty-three years ago)

and to be a real asshole, this collection should be retitled:

Lame Ass High School Girl Music Vol. 1-6

Mike Taylor (mjt), Saturday, 22 February 2003 15:51 (twenty-three years ago)

But we were all Lame Ass High School Girls once. Weren't we?

(For my part...I'll stick with Rhino's Have a Nice Day series. :-) )

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 22 February 2003 15:55 (twenty-three years ago)

A friend of mine was like this roadie on a tour of Holiday Inns in Florida for some guys he met because he knows the man who wrote "Romeo's Tune" (didn't check to see if it was on the Time-Life comp.). The lineup was Jonathan Edwards ("Sunshine"); Al Stewart ("Roads to Moscow"); Don McLean ("Dreidel"); Jessie Colin Young ("Get Together"); and Steve Forbert ("Romeo's Tune"). The big closer every night, per rider, was "American Pie." I believe he related to me that Don M. also got big applause for his song about Van Gogh. Jessie Colin Young didn't need the money, he operates a coffee-growing concern in Hawaii. Jonathan Edwards also got reaction for his song in which he tells the world to go to hell. So, all in all, a good experience. There do seem to be a few ringers on the T-L comps, though, like Richie Havens?

Can't you get this from the library?
