"I Want You (She's So Heavy)" makes me think of Lennon presenting one of several ways of ending the song, album, relationship, beatles (cf: the Lloyd-Webber of Abbey Road side 2)

didn't sgt pepper have a catch groove on one side and the wacky endless "mr kite" on the other ? revolver sides one and two end nicely with two similar sounding songs -- the beatles sides had good endings

zeus (zeus), Thursday, 2 November 2006 22:21 (nineteen years ago)

Anything that goes ssssssssssssssssccccccCCCCCHHHHHHHHHUP! (i.e. a slow backwards drum noise) over about 10-20 seconds. Albums quite often end in such a manner. Some songs which do this include:

50) The Cure - Pornography
51) GY!BE - Motherfucker=Redeemer Part Two
52) Mogwai - 2 Rights Make 1 Wrong

Songs which end with an incongruous, harsh beep:

53) Elbow - Newborn
54) Mr. Bungle - Pink Cigarette

...and the greatest ending...ever?

55) Super Furry Animals - Mountain People

You've Got Scourage On Your Breath (Haberdager), Thursday, 2 November 2006 22:39 (nineteen years ago)

Pink Cigarette might be the best one, actually. Absurd, baroque, urgent, sad, terrifying, brilliant are just some of the many adjectives I could lavish upon that song's final stages (well, the whole thing, to be fair, but especially the end).

You've Got Scourage On Your Breath (Haberdager), Thursday, 2 November 2006 22:41 (nineteen years ago)

56. David Bowie - "It's No Game, Pt. 1" - Screaming "Shut up!" over disjointed Frippriff loop until he swallows his tongue

Hideous Lump (Hideous Lump), Friday, 3 November 2006 04:40 (nineteen years ago)
