ice music

Austin, Texas is covered in a sheet of ice this morning. Rained all night, froze solid, nobody can go anywhere. Except like an idiot, I tried to drive anyway, only to discover accidents everywhere, and ambulances going 20 mph. We're just not equipped for this shit.

Anyway, question is, what are some good songs for ice?

"Slip Away" - Clarence Carter
"Slippin' and Slidin'" - Otis Redding

It's easy to romanticize the cold when it's not happening to you.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 06:38 (twenty-three years ago)

" It's easy to romanticize the cold when it's not happening to you "

hm. i for one am not "romanticising" the cold, no sir. it's been round -30 Celsius-degrees where i'm living on several occasions this winter

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 07:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Fucking hell. And i thought 17 was bad. Where do you live?

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 07:08 (twenty-three years ago)

BTW - 17 F = about -9 C.

-30 C - about -20 F.

So it would have to be -20 outside in America to compete with this. Even Chicago doesn't get that cold.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 07:10 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm right across the Gulf of Finland
...today it's just -2 degrees, tho'. and 's been quite mild for several weeks, really :-)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 07:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Say no more. You come from the land of the ice and snow, as Zeppelin would say.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 07:15 (twenty-three years ago)

mmm... compared to the folx who populate the darkermost rings of the arctic circle, the lives of the likes of me are really peace'n'cake ...though the winters *were* considerably colder when i was a kid
(...a few years ago i interviewed Mari Boine, on my home turf, but somehow it never occurred to me to ask her, 'is it very tough up north?' ...mayhaps i should've)
