I need to buy a present for someone who likes Rahzel, Q-bert, Jurassic 5, Pharcyde. (He's not strictly undie though.) Are there any good new albums that feature some mad turntable skillz? Please help me look cooler than I am, ILM.

You might try something from the Deep Concentration series. They're a few years old but feature everybody from the Cut Chemist and DJ Spooky to DJ Wally and Rob Swift. Mostly instrumental turntablist compilations.

Z-Trip and Radar, Live at the Future Primitive Soundsession, Volume 2 is likewise somewhat older (c. 1999) but has some of the finest scratching I've ever heard in recorded form.

I love the Deep Concentration series, particularly 2. I love the Mass Influence song "Demo Type Shit."

no but seriously, d-styles - phantazmagorea is seriously what i think you're looking for--pure multitracked turntablism. download it on soulseek or something.

I'll advise you the same thing as Guy: Phantazmagorea. A true album, not a 60-minute-long scratch demo full of special tricks you can't get if you're not a turntablist yourself. But you gotta know it's not an "uplifting" LP at all, it has nothing to do with party-rap scratching style, it's more like D-Styles is raping helpless pieces of wax with his turntables. The whole atmosphere slightly reminded me of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. If your friend likes Little Johnny by CoFlow, he'll probably worship Phantazmagorea.

best turntabalist album ever.

i'd also recommend j-rocc live at the sex machine. not a turntabalist album, per see, but a mix of classic hip hop, jazz, reggea, rare groove, etc...performed live (and yes, there are some minor flaws), but very enjoyable.
