Are you Passionate ?

And who cares ?
Actually what I'd really like to know is, whats your star sign ?
(aka- Is the urge to talk about/passionate music associated with a particular star sign ?)
I'm a gemini. Which is pretty uncool. Nobody has EVER said "wow thats great" after i said I was a gemini, not even the geminis. actually especially not the geminis.
But maybe we're all geminis which would be cool. Or maybe were all completely different which would be cool too.
In any case, without further ado and in the name of progress and all thing progressive, eh, carry on.

I like the way you put a space before your question marks . It gives them , uh , a sort of s a d quality .

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:04 (twenty-three years ago)

you can use a computer and you believe in astrology? I'm amazed.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:07 (twenty-three years ago)

And you're a guy!

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:07 (twenty-three years ago)

This place is dominated by air signs, hence the frequent lack of heart.

Rockist Scientist, Thursday, 27 February 2003 00:01 (twenty-three years ago)

And here I was getting ready to bash this album yet again....

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 27 February 2003 04:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Another Scorpio heard from. A barely contained pressure cooker of passion. Watch your ass. I could go off at any moment. (And I'm good in bed, too! Ask any astrologist.)

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 27 February 2003 05:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Chirs please, don't let us stop you from bashing that album.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 27 February 2003 05:13 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm a lovable leo.

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 27 February 2003 07:33 (twenty-three years ago)

AND ts a proven fact that leos are the most passionate people of the zodiac mindwarp.

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 27 February 2003 07:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes. Just like it is a proven fact, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the leo constellation in fact looks like a lion.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 27 February 2003 08:01 (twenty-three years ago)

stop yr warping my mind!

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 27 February 2003 08:45 (twenty-three years ago)

I am a Taurus = full of bullshit. Allegedly I am passionate. But I am also a Voidist Buddhist! So cannot be passionate. I have no soul to source my passion! I like sex though.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 27 February 2003 08:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I like sex, too. Hey, let's take a poll -- who likes sex?

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Thursday, 27 February 2003 08:58 (twenty-three years ago)

i prefer wanking.

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 27 February 2003 09:02 (twenty-three years ago)

as it happens, i'm quite passionate about it.

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 27 February 2003 09:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I too prefer wanking. QUite frankly, sex is far too much like hard work, and it takes WAY too long.

Oh yes . . . and I'm a Libra. Full of happiness and light and nice things, see?

Johnney B (Johnney B), Thursday, 27 February 2003 13:19 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm a leo. RAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Thursday, 27 February 2003 13:34 (twenty-three years ago)

gemini.
what are you talking about? everyone knows it's such a cool sign. everyone i tell, says, wow, that's such a cool sign.
it means you can't concentrate on anything and never make up your mind and are very creative except you never finish anything.
it's true!

try and be friends with aquariuses, they go well with us. because obviously aquarius + gemini - AQUEMINI = perfection.

pete b. (pete b.), Friday, 28 February 2003 15:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Marcello the Contrarian Aquarian, Friday, 28 February 2003 15:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey Pete b. ,
Thanks for the advice.
Aquarians eh ?
And where would you find an aquarian ?

kevin brady (groeuvre), Friday, 28 February 2003 18:24 (twenty-three years ago)

cancerians repr4zent! we're supposed to be v. emotional, so I suppose we're passionate. It usually translates more to me being a moody bitch.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 28 February 2003 18:36 (twenty-three years ago)

I is a Leo. I'm supposedly passionate about shit. I really have no point of reference for what is "passionate" as opposed to, uh, like "indifferent" or whatever, as I've been however passionate as I am for so long that I don't know how passionate my levels of passion actually are.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 28 February 2003 18:39 (twenty-three years ago)

that Neil Young album sucks! start bashing it already Chris!

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 28 February 2003 18:49 (twenty-three years ago)

FWIW, there MAY have once been a basis for astrological
signs.
Nothing to do with the stars, but with the time of
year you were born, which dictated what kind of
food your hunter-gatherer momz ate during her
pregnancy, which in turn MAY dictate your personality.
Or so the theory goes.
Course, in today's age people eat what they want
when they want, but let's not be so quick to scoff
the ancients. After all, astrology is the father
of astronomy, and curiosity about the cosmos
has lead to many great, life-improving discoveries,

one year passes...
Why is ILM scared of Passion?
Is it really that it's dominated by air signs? Or borderline autistics? Is emotion a scary quality due to its uncontrollability? A lot of music that ILM seems to like is about control and restraint and observation.

I don't know what I'm saying. But ILM is scared of passion, non?

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 08:05 (twenty-one years ago)

no, i wouldn't say so. it depends how you define 'passion' of course, but i think people here are very passionate about all kinds of things. what makes you think they're not?

pete b. (pete b.), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 08:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Being passionate does not exclude one from being 'scared of passion'. I'm not sure what I'm saying. It's not quite the "don't examine it, you'll ruin it" thing. I guess it's partly drawn from the "why does indie suck 2004" thread, where the answer is not "because the songs are all rubbish and I don't enjoy it", but "I hate who I used to be", or so it seems.

I'm totally rambling to fuck here. Do people like something because they can analyse it or analyse something because they like it? I guess I'm feeling lately that it's a lot of the former.

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 08:15 (twenty-one years ago)

"Are you passionate?"

Oh yes. About all sorts of things.

"And who cares?"

I care!

Actually, if I'm brutally honest, my regular explosions of rage about the seemingly constant stream of injustices and outrages, which I'm usually perfectly well aware that I'm ultimately powerless to actually do anything about, probably pisses people off more than anything.

Actually what I'd really like to know is, whats your star sign?

I'm a Pisces, obviously: patient, easy-going.... oh yes I fucking well am!

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Aries. And my name is Brian. And I love a lady who loves everything and everybody. Apparently. 'Cause god knows most of them HAVE. Float, float on...

are you passhin' the liquor shtore??

SeXperiment, Friday, 21 August 2009 00:05 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, this album deserves re-evaluation, sort of!

tylerw, Friday, 21 August 2009 00:09 (sixteen years ago)

i wuv that record

thomp, Friday, 21 August 2009 00:13 (sixteen years ago)

it's too bad he didn't do a record with Booker T & the MGs when they toured in 1993. They were smokin' then.

tylerw, Friday, 21 August 2009 00:14 (sixteen years ago)

i kind of like how cosey and middle-aged it sounds, though

thomp, Friday, 21 August 2009 00:18 (sixteen years ago)

This is a good record, and I don't really see what the negative fuss was about (save for "Let's Roll"). The songs saunter along nicely, and Neil does his best to keep up. Neil's not a great crooner but you can see what he's going for, and especially "Differently" and "Mr. Disappointment" are really strong.

afternoon "delight" (Euler), Friday, 21 August 2009 11:05 (sixteen years ago)

are air signs really passionate ? are leos really lovable ? "do people like something because they can analyse it or analyse something because they like it? - Nick Southall

and who cares ? me unfortunately
does astrology signs make sense ? it really depends on the interpreter
cancerians repr4zent!

CaptainLorax, Friday, 21 August 2009 14:14 (sixteen years ago)

but back to Neil Young ... I think this record would've been better if he just stuck to his guns and made it his "soul" kinda album, or at least "Neil Young's version of soul music." But he had to stick on "Goin' Home," which is great, but really doesn't fit well, and then "Let's Roll", which is problematic in a way that only Neil can be problematic. I sorta go back and forth on that song, but mainly I skip it.
