Not a question, just a declarative statement.

What are your thoughts on Leonard Cohen?

Great song. Love the version by Pearls Before Swine, too.

"The Partisan" *might* be my favorite song ever.

Cohen still has it. 10 New Songs is as good as "Love and Theft" which got at lot more press when they where released.

Because Ten New Songs is sort of an "impossible" record, especially for many critics--many of whom probably haven't come to grips with the dated-sounding synth arrangements.

Leonard Cohen is a sexy motherfucker! That really deserves a thread of its own.

Certainly not my favorite Leonard Cohen song but a pretty good one, yeah.

Good songwriter, not only the lyrics but also the melodies are strong.

Only problem is he has a tendency to compete with the bass player. :-)

I like "First We Take Manhattan" best, not because it's good but because I like gruffly announcing "First, we'll take Manhattan...then we'll take Berlin!"

Hmmm.. FBI ever thought of checking Leonard Cohen closely. Maybe he has something to do with 11.9, in which case the German police should check his plans closely too. :-)

Judy Collins's hit version of this song is just vile. I heard it for the first time last week.

I like Cohen's slightly later records best, when he developed his risqué sense of humor. I think I'd even prefer "Don't Go Home with Your Hard-On" to this song.

Let that be a lesson to you, Mr. Cohen.

He knew she was half-crazy.

He played a show at Orchestra Hall in Mpls. in 1975 - that must be the one she's talking about in the article.

It's one of the great songs from when he was still a Montreal poet, writing specifically and tangibly about its landscape.

Of the versions I've heard, I like Fairport Convention's cover best.

This was for decades Leonard Cohen's most covered song, but in recent years has been eclipsed by "Halelujah"
