Which is the gayest song ever?

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 9 March 2003 13:54 (twenty-three years ago)

styx will always outgay the competitor

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 9 March 2003 15:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Have you heard Gowan? (Actually I believe he's now singing for Styx so that may prove your point. If you can't beat 'em join 'em, etc.)

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 9 March 2003 15:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Larry is indeed singing for Styx now. Swell. And I can only assume that you mean "gay" in the happy wussy sense instead of the homosexual sense, because there are far gayer songs than either of those, if we're thinking along those lines.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 9 March 2003 15:49 (twenty-three years ago)

You know, the more I think about it, the more there seems to be a profoundly homoerotic subtext to every Gowan song, from "Jet White" to "Strange Animal" to "Cosmetics" to "All the Lovers In the World".

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 9 March 2003 16:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I believe that some time ago I started a thread proposing that "Crystal Ball" is actually the gayest song ever

dave q, Sunday, 9 March 2003 16:37 (twenty-three years ago)

The video for Strange Animal is pretty gay in both senses. That outfit plus the set and the interpretive dancing (incl. leg kicks)- good lord!

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 9 March 2003 18:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Sundar is heating me where it hurts, Gowan was one of those artists I'd pullout for Cancon reasons. I still can't believe 'Moonlight Desires' hasn't made a Frosh compilation. Its GREBT!
History has not be kind, but at least he didnt talk to no Robot dude.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 19:36 (twenty-three years ago)

haha I forgot about "Moonlight Desires"!

(Chill, dude, gay != bad)

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 9 March 2003 21:05 (twenty-three years ago)

It actually took me *years* to notice that it was actually Jon Anderson of Yes singing with him on Moonlight Desires instead of his over-used "I'm going to up the pitch of my own voice for a perfect harmony" production trick.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 9 March 2003 21:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Jon Anderson sings on that???

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 9 March 2003 21:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't walk on past Gowan, hes full of surprises.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 21:33 (twenty-three years ago)

He does, I swear!

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 9 March 2003 21:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Since no one else is posting here anyway, is anyone coming to Wavelength (Jim Guthrie, Brian Borcherdt, Building Castles Out of Matchsticks) tonight? My friend and I are going.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 9 March 2003 22:41 (twenty-three years ago)

(No dis to Jody or anything.)

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 9 March 2003 22:46 (twenty-three years ago)

3 acts tonight? I thought the norm was two.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 22:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I dunno Sundar, I'm thinking I may want to avoid anywhere with cameras for awhile.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 23:11 (twenty-three years ago)

?

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 9 March 2003 23:14 (twenty-three years ago)

"YMCA", "In The Navy" and "Relax" will still beat those anyway...

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 9 March 2003 23:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I would surely beat you with anything, go AWAY.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 23:19 (twenty-three years ago)

?

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 9 March 2003 23:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry Sundar, I might make it, Sneaky's is pretty bad place to take pictures thanks to all the bad backlighting.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 9 March 2003 23:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I dunno, Geir, "YMCA" doesn't achieve anything near the levels of fey camp the Styx and Gowan ones do for me, though it is more overtly homosexual. (Obv, like Sean says, if that's what you're going for, you could easily find more overtly homosexual songs than these. La di da.)
