Talk about Wiley & Dizzy -- You Were Always There

So the Wiley style goes R&B as discussed with Dizzy in in his hyperdub interview. I have a poor rip off the radio in .wav format and that's it but I quite like it. Sounds real close to the oh no! sped up SOUL! oh NO!! bits but crossed with Pulse X minimalism -- like that dream So Solid vs. Nelly & Kelly dilemma mash I always talk about.

Dizzy's interjections are harsh, nasty, fast, but few and far between like some guy crying and shouting occasionally at the radio. The vocals get more and more mashed as the song concludes -- also reminds me of Girls On Top's "I Wanna Dance With Numbers".

Anyone else heard this?

have not heard this (want to), but wiley was on a very 2-steppy track i heard a while back which featured an insanely nagging chorushook ("this ones for the ladies who like to wind down low...ladies!") and which was probably more "R&B" than this sounds

i love this. dizzee sounds like he's fighting off the tears even more than usual. really hypnotic.

Jess that was United Groove Collective's "Wind Down Low" I think.

"hella" as in "hella good", right? I still think their remix of their own "Mic Tribute" stands as one of the most awesome slices of insane syncopation in garage.

i've got a 2.5 mins 128kbps mp3 of this shared on slsk (username tsg20). got it a few months ago, not sure where from (kazaa?).

nice to see tinchy strider get a go

check wiley's 'i need someone' for another example of this hypno-sample call-and-response. like big slabs of insistent memory. kinda dreamy
