Ethan?? Geordie Racer?? Guy Beckett??

Where oh where are these legendary colossi from ILM's dim and distant past?

Anyone else?

I was wondering about Ned, too, but I see he's back to posting occasionally. COME BACK, EVERYONE!

Sean Carruthers, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm also a bit worried that we scared Marcello off after meeting him in the pub last week.

Tom, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes, whither Cookie? I wonder that about twice a day, though.

the pinefox, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was wondering where Geordie Racer was gone. Shame, I liked his contributions.

Michael, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am not posting as much here for various reasons, but I am here, sort of...

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Also there's those ostensible NYLPM contributors who never ever post anything on there.

Patrick, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Rich*rd Cook (editor of Wire mag in the 80s) had a stalker. Oh yes. A fellow who looked like Simon Reynolds a little (tall, floppy hair, glasses), tho — I hasten to add, celebrity lurkers — wasn't. He would ring up, and — on occasion — turn up, at the mag office, and at RDC's radio prog. He had one time been put through to Cook by an inexperienced temp — and Cook was trying to get him off the line nicely (we were afraid to piss him off, to be honest, because HOW MAD WAS HE), when he suddely vanished, mid-sentence. "I wonder what happened," said our relieved boss. "The nurse came back onto the ward with the sedatives," said Adele darkly.

And she must have been right, because he never phoned again.

I miss em too: tho wasn't Geordie going on tour?

That's why I asked to have my name taken off, I just don't have the right writing style for nylpm so never really contributed anything other than Aaron Carter madness.

Nicole, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nicole : I say there's nothing wrong with NYLPM having varied writing styles. You should try and contribute some more stuff.

Patrick, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mmm, I don't think so. It's steeped in theory and analysis, and I'm just a little too frivolous.

Nicole, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think the move to Athens that Ethan was planning was actually going to happen very soon. May be that he's involved with that at the moment. Or worse, without net access in his new PIMP-LAIR.

Josh, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If there's a unified writing style on NYLPM, I can't see it. There have been literary homages, considered analyses, half-cocked rants, hit-&-run commentaries, and so on. It's one of the columns strengths, for damn sure. Eclecticism at its finest.

I wish Tom would stop cockfarming & update the archive, though.

David Raposa, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Eh, I probably just should have said "my writing = not good enough to publish".

Did ethan move in with blurillaz?

Nicole, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Was going to say: "If it doesn't sound too creepish, Nicole, you greatly underestimate yr contribution."

Pleasantly yet validly pipped.

Instead shall say: "Theory needn't be all exoskeletal: sometimes the walk does the talk..."

mark s, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I actually asked to be removed from the NYLPM contributors' list because I'd kept quiet on there for so long. I think I'm a less prolific poster here than I was, as well.

Robin Carmody, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ally C - posted on ILE the other day, I think. Geordie Racer - said he was off for a bit. Marcello Carlin - Doesn't he only post at weekends? Wasn't the Strokes thread last week, or was it the week before?

DG, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mr. Raposa, I am SO PROUD OF YOU.

Josh, Thursday, 28 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Lord, Josh.

Nicole -- you can write, trust me. I will keep saying this until you BREAK DOWN AND BELIEVE.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 29 June 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i think i must have missed something somewhere, but where is fred s?

gareth, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yeah, where is fred? And what is up with the rather distressing note on his blog page? I hope all is well...

Nicole, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Busy, working, living away from the interweb.

Josh, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That's good, I was hoping he wasn't dead or maimed by an alley cat or something. Can't say that I blame him.

Nicole, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

(Man, someone took pride in something I did, and I just found out about it?)

(Must be about my newfound ability to use "cockfarmer" in a sentence.)

David Raposa, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dang, I didn't know that Fred had terminated his blog. I hope he's doing well.
