(to try and justify this awful thread title: I love reading his comments about '80s synth-pop in the "69" liner notes, because I know almost nothing about '80s synth-pop, and it's great to read someone so articulate and funny, and who has such an interesting personal aesthetic, talk about something I'm so unversed in. Further disclosure: I like FS's music, though I get the impression that lots of people into real '80s synth-pop think it's crap. So I'm wondering if Merritt has a take. I don't know if he still writes in Time Out?)
