Different formats and reissues are allowed. Reasons why also:

- Tour De France by Kraftwerk
12"s : one original and one reissue from the recent past; why? so I don't have to touch the original

- Delusions of Granduer by Hardkiss
vinylLP and 2CD: why? extra tracks on CD (I bought the LP first)

- Brown Album by Orbital
vinylLP and cassette (from back when you could buy albums on cassette!!) why? : b/c my recording deck broke and I needed a more portable copy

- Selected Ambient Work vol 1 - Aphex
as above

- The Best Of - Bill Cosby
vinyl LP; why? : because its Bill Cosby. It was cheap (£1.50) and kick started my Cosby album collection, which now numbers 12.

- Get Ur Freak On - Missy Elliot
2 X 12"s why?: because I forgot I had it already.

- Headhunters LP - Herbie Hancock
2 X vinyl LP; why? : because Herbie signed one of them !!!!

- In Order To Dance Volume 5 on R&S (classic techno shit)
Double Cassette and 5xVinyl; why? because the vinyl box set was real hard to find, I had to resort to buying dance music on cassette, only to end up finding it 2 years later in a shop. Strapped for cash, I swapped some NuYorican Soul box set for it.

Nik (Nik), Sunday, 16 March 2003 01:52 (twenty-three years ago)

oh yeah,

- Tango In The Night LP - Fleetwood Mac
2 X Vinyl; why? because on one "Big Love" was skipping...

Nik (Nik), Sunday, 16 March 2003 01:56 (twenty-three years ago)

At least three, possibly five of Joseph Arthur - Come To Where I'm From...the record label just kept sending promo copies.

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 16 March 2003 02:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I have four copies of The Lexicon of Love: three on vinyl (thought it got lost, then my brother brought me a copy, which had two albums in it for some reason), one on cassette (also contains "The Look of Love" parts 2 and 3, but I've lost that vinyl somewhere).

I have two copies of many other things, both vinyl and CD.

Neudonym, Sunday, 16 March 2003 02:09 (twenty-three years ago)

2 copies of Dolly Mixture's "Everything and More" 7", which was accidental. I sold most of my duplicate records a few weeks ago.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Sunday, 16 March 2003 02:11 (twenty-three years ago)

don't ask me how I ended up with them, but I have The Fall's This Nation's Saving Grace on all three formats PLUS an extra vinyl copy (which is scratched really badly) making the total FOUR. I love the record but only recall buying the CD.

I also had two Diadal records because I bought one for a friend who ended up punking out and not wanting it. Sold it on ebay a few weeks back for about $50!

and dollar records, shit, you wanna talk about Supersession, Moondance, Darkness on the Edge of Town, The Last Waltz.. shiiiiit. I could open a store

roger adultery (roger adultery), Sunday, 16 March 2003 02:36 (twenty-three years ago)

KK Null 'Inorganic Orgasm' CD (2x) and Yeast Culture 'Dys' LP (2x). bcuz the custom artwork of each copy is just too nice (and too different) to pick one or the other.

summerslastsound, Sunday, 16 March 2003 02:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Magazine - Magic, Murder and the Weather
-LP/CD why? couldn't find it on CD, but then found it on CD

Magazine - Secondhand Daylight
-LP/CD why? bought the vinyl second for collector reasons.

Simple Minds - Empires and Dance
-2 CD why? ordered it from two different places at the same time and then canceled one order when the other shipped. Of course, it was too late to cancel. It's okay though because one is that reissue in the slipcase

Gary Numan - Berserker
-LP/CD why? side B of the LP was mispressed!

Gary Numan - I, Assassin
-LP/CD why? it's an awesome album and it was reissued with bonus tracks.

New Order - Technique
-LP/CD why? whenever I buy an LP and fall in love with it I have to buy it on CD.

This is all I can think of off hand.

Patrick South (Patrick South), Sunday, 16 March 2003 03:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I own two CD copies each of Royal Trux's "Thank You" and "Sweet Sixteen"... because they're out of print and what if one "breaks," etc. (Of course, "Thank You" is a cutout bin staple; I don't think I've ever seen a copy without a hole punched through the barcode. "Sweet 16" is harder to find; guess Virgin "learned their lesson.")

Someday, Drag City will release "Sweet 16" on double vinyl, with the cover art stretching across both sides of the gatefold... and al shall be right with the world.

Sam Jeffries (samjeff), Sunday, 16 March 2003 03:55 (twenty-three years ago)

OMD - Junk Culture
Brian Eno - Another Green World
David Bowie - Lodger
Pavement - Slanted & Enchanted

I think that's it.

A Nairn (moretap), Sunday, 16 March 2003 03:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Someday, Drag City will release "Sweet 16" on double vinyl

Totally. It still burns my ass that this is the only RTX record with no vinyl. One of the top records of the nineties, a monumental achievement.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Sunday, 16 March 2003 03:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I have 2 copies of Mary J. Blige "My Life" on CD because I thought I lost the first copy, but instead my friend was borrowing it.

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 16 March 2003 04:04 (twenty-three years ago)

sam and diamond - my eternal respect. I thought i was the only one.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Sunday, 16 March 2003 05:02 (twenty-three years ago)

I have both the english & german versions of the Nina Hagen albums which had different language versions.

Dave Fischer, Sunday, 16 March 2003 05:08 (twenty-three years ago)

i think i posted about this before, long ago

i have currently six copies of idris muhammad 'power of soul' and have certainly bought at least two more, but given them away. why? i have a special soft spot for the record, it being the first LP my friends and i took the sampler to. for a long time i would rescue them whenever i saw them in shops.

i know i bought at least four copies of the 'fortified live' 12", and have given one away. why? it's the cut

too many doubles to mention

i have a cd and two LP's of maiden voyage. why? i love herbie

ones i would like to get duplicates of: sam prekop CD (record is scratched), acetone 'york blvd' CD and moon pix CD (preemptive measure, potential record damage)

ron (ron), Sunday, 16 March 2003 05:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah Roger! The funny thing is when I first heard it I didn't like it. I took a few listens before I realized how brilliant it was.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Sunday, 16 March 2003 05:13 (twenty-three years ago)

remember the archives

gygax! (gygax!), Sunday, 16 March 2003 05:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Boss Hog - S/T - LP/CDx2. I lost the CD once, bought another, found the first.

The Clash - London Calling/S/T - LP/CDx2. Because the LPs were given to me and I just bought the reissues.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Sunday, 16 March 2003 05:28 (twenty-three years ago)

haha in that thread alex in mainhatten complains it's been done already haha

gygax! (gygax!), Sunday, 16 March 2003 05:29 (twenty-three years ago)

That thread is notable for one of the greatest dave q posts

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Sunday, 16 March 2003 05:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Diamond - me too! tho i loved Morphic Resident the first time. S16 really rewards careful repeated listening - that record is brilliant. then again, they're my all time favorite band, so i'm not the guy to ask...

roger adultery (roger adultery), Sunday, 16 March 2003 06:00 (twenty-three years ago)

gypsies, tramps & thieves/theme from "which way is up"

duane, Sunday, 16 March 2003 06:21 (twenty-three years ago)

i have "vincebus eruptum" on vinyl and cd, but that's it. every time i wind up with doubles (rarely), i usually hold on to them until i know someone who would like them. i've personally given away 4 copies of the leningrad blues machine album. heh.

your null fame (yournullfame), Sunday, 16 March 2003 08:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Charlie Mingus - Tijuana Moods: I was after a copy for years and finally found the CD in Paris. Recently, I found the vinyl in FOPP for 7 pounds, so just had to...

Jez (Jez), Sunday, 16 March 2003 10:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I've got five copies of Appetite for Destruction -- three on vinyl (one broken, but I kept the shards as a memento) (and another a BMG copy I inherited from a friend back in the '80s, along with a stack of other vinyl), one on cassette, one on CD.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 16 March 2003 11:49 (twenty-three years ago)

one broken, but I kept the shards as a memento

OK, the year was 1988, I was 12 and turning into a real pain in the ass, and not owning very many albums that catered to my changing moods I played Appetite for Destruction ALL THE TIME, to the point where my dad walked into the living room one day, yanked the LP off the stereo, and in a psychotic hissyfit cracked the thing into little pieces right in front of yrs truly. Boy was I livid. But I scraped together every penny I had and replaced it a few days later.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 16 March 2003 12:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Since the post on the other thread I re-purchased Van Halen's 'W&C1st' and 'Fair Warning' on CD so I could listen to them and 'VH1' on vinyl so I could DJ with it

dave q, Sunday, 16 March 2003 12:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Twice I''ve been so scared that I've lost my copy of the first Throwing Muses album that I now have three copies. I am a small man.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Sunday, 16 March 2003 12:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Haha I've got dupes of so much stuff that I just re-bought because I was too lazy to dig through all my shit and find what I wanted.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 16 March 2003 12:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Buffalo Springfield-Retrospective 4 copies , I cant pass it up at a thrift shop. It makes me merry

girl scout heroin (iamamonkey), Sunday, 16 March 2003 13:32 (twenty-three years ago)

spiritualized - pure phase, i bought one copy with the normal cd casing then i the glo in the dark casing turned up used in my local store and it was only 4 quid so i figured..
theres also shitloads from tapes that got fucked up so i ended up buying the cds but they dont really count, i guess

gibson, Sunday, 16 March 2003 20:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Because they were more or less $5 Canadian on LP:
-Tim/the Replacements
-This Nation's Saving Grace/the Fall
-Parallel Lines/Blondie
-Strangeways, Here We Come/the Smiths
-New Riot for Zero Kanada/Godspeed!You!Black!Emp!er!!o!!!!r!!!!!!!!!
-Abbey Road/the Beatles

Because I'm irrational and get easily tempted by spankin' new vinyls:
-Funhouse/the Stooges
-Moon and Antarctica/Modest Mouse

I've only recently gotten a vinyl player, which explains this occurence.

alex in montreal, Sunday, 16 March 2003 20:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Does the four Velvet Underground albums + "Peel Slowly & See" count?

alex in montreal, Sunday, 16 March 2003 20:41 (twenty-three years ago)

henry cow - initial cd releases + recent remasters/reissues : some in the first run had different mixes to the original LPs + extra tracks whilst the new lot just sound wonderfull.

phil turnbull (philT), Sunday, 16 March 2003 20:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Multiples of all the Petula Clark albums in various stages of disrepair

girl scout heroin (iamamonkey), Monday, 17 March 2003 04:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Tom Verlaine - Dreamtime, Television Marquee Moon, Replacements - Let It Be and 3 copies of Prince - Purple Rain- just because.

Carey (Carey), Monday, 17 March 2003 05:01 (twenty-three years ago)

4 copies of Miles Davis' Kind of Blue -- both the original version and the pitch corrected version, both on CD and vinyl. Wouldn't part with a one of them.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Monday, 17 March 2003 05:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Haha I've got dupes of so much stuff that I just re-bought because I was too lazy to dig through all my shit and find what I wanted.

My grandfather did that with tools. The man had more electric drills than you could count.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Monday, 17 March 2003 05:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Zombies - Odessey and Oracle

1. The Big Beat reissue with mono and stereo versions
2. That issue on a German label with the stereo version and around 15 extra tracks
3. Zombie Heaven box set, including the whole of O+O!
