I didn't go to Austin, my roommate did and promised a full email report soon but I wanna hear how it was for the rest of you. Pete? Rockcrit lurkers? Anyone?

I played 3 shows in two days. Fun shows, but the whole atmosphere was too damned busy & exhausting for me to have much fun.

i had to do much more work than i had planned on, so i barely saw anything - a grand total of seven bands, perhaps, and nothing that i hadn't seen/heard before. out of that limited pool, the locust were fantastic and blur were excruciatingly boring. i missed josh pearson's solo set, a colossal fuckup over which i am still kicking myself.

yes, they were ace. i've seen them twice before and been indifferent/annoyed, but they owned it saturday night.

yeah i was wondering how the blur show went. the only bits I saw weren't even showcases so you know. . .it's kind of stale these days, sxsw.

I heard that Blur was absolutely terrible. Had a great time in Austin, mostly due to the weather. Ghostly showcase went better than we were expecting, being electronic at a fest dominated by guitar rock. Saw my mates the Sights play for a crowd that had cleared out after the Datsuns were done (idiots) which was made up all the regulars from Detroit. Other highlight was Broken Social Scene, who are touring with Stars in the next month and are really quite fantastic and highly recommended.
