What were the last songs you paid to hear in a pub? Simple as that. Last night I paid a quid to listen to;

the last thing i remember playing in a jukebox was neil diamond's "girl, you'll be a woman soon" mostly because i thought it went well with the mexican food my friend and i were having.

however, if i had a jukebox in front of me right now that had everything ever recorded in it, i would play serge gainsbourg's "le claqueur de doights" for my boyfriend.

She's so High - Blur
Eight Days A Week - Beatles
Jean Genie - David Bowie
Ace of Spades - Motorhead
Sheena is a Punk Rocker - Ramones

I wanted some In The Ghetto instead of ace of spades, but my mates wouldn't let me.

Before showin' up on Saturday to meet a smattering of the ILM mob at Siberia, I foolishly fed about five dollars into the jukebox at Hi-Fi (formerly Brownie's on Ave.A) where the selection looked truly promising (Killing Joke, Firewater, Misfits)....yet never heard a single note from any of the songs I played....they're probably coming on about now, actually.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 18 March 2003 14:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Neil Young and Crazy Horse "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere," Bjork "All Is Full of Love," and some more I forgot.

i usually get 7 plays for 2 quid and vacillate between:

go west - we close our eyes;
the police - every little thing she does is magic;
ELO - mister blue sky;
roxy music - virginia plane;
pavement - shady lane;
rod stewart - da ya think i'm sexy?;
vanessa carlton - can't remember the name of the tune;
david bowie - let's dance (or modern love);
gary numan - cars;
hawkwind - silver machine;
rainbow - since you been gone;
mud - tiger feet;
basement jaxx - romeo;
daft punk - digital love;
mis-teeq - all i want.

then after i've worked the crowd norman cook style some little frickin student will select pink floyd or the doors or van morrison or a selection entirely of verve / radiohead miserable shit.
