they're on the radio right now and annoying me as much as ever. I see no redeeming features in this music - perfect for the Jockey Sluts of this world, though (hey it's new, massively hyped and has an easy-to-understand 4/4 kickdrum) and thus evil... am i wrong or is this, as i see it, reactionary MOR cobblers maquerading as house's great (and crucially) white hope...

Does house NEED a great white hope?

Siegbran (eofor), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 13:42 (twenty-three years ago)

no - that's my point! however some sections of the press will always think it needs another...

dave what's wrong with "easy-to-understand"?

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 14:09 (twenty-three years ago)

nothing wrong with easy-to-understand i like some real dimwitted stuff! there is something wrong with that particular thing being all some people can understand, though... particularly when they're in a position to get a variety of good music out to people and write well about it but don't - still that's another thread entirely or is it? was just being curmudgeonly, naturally...

"Snow": classic (for at least another 3 months)

Nik (Nik), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 14:44 (twenty-three years ago)

what I've heard is good, regardless of how many records or how little they sell or whether they're being treated as the great white hope.

me in january: "while i like this record a lot now, i can't help but feel like i will hate it in three months"

and i kind of do. except poss. 'snow', but even that's losing its lustre..

some of the beats sound so incredibly dated.

and that crooner-type track ('face in a cloud') is completely wrong.

still enjoyable, but i think i'll be bored of 'em by the time the album's officially released.
