remix of the year so far ?

i think really good remixes are pretty
thin on the ground but the
UNKLE remix of queens of the stone age
can't be argued with, nor a recent
run dmc 'it's tricky' mix by someone who escapes me
(jacknife lee ?)

and yourselves ?

piscesboy, Sunday, 23 March 2003 15:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Royksopp mix of Peter Gabriel is 'interesting', more than it sounds anyway

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 23 March 2003 16:01 (twenty-three years ago)

the Liquid People mix Talk Talk's "It's My Life" is ace

Adam A. (Keiko), Sunday, 23 March 2003 16:04 (twenty-three years ago)

renegade snares (high contrast rmx) - omni trio

not sure about this though as it's probably the only dnb tune i've heard all year.

disco stu (disco stu), Sunday, 23 March 2003 18:24 (twenty-three years ago)

good lord stu, what does that sound like? i am filled with the PH33R.

the sharkey rmx of dizzee rascal's "i luv u" for sure. turns the original into gutter-royksopp or something.

jess (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 23 March 2003 18:28 (twenty-three years ago)

high contrast r0x0rs...

...seriously though, i wasn't particularly fond of any high contrast output that i had heard previously, but i think this is quality. it kind of sounds like john b - ultra euphoric, filter-y, and it does some unique things with the original track. maybe it's just the nice weather.

disco stu (disco stu), Sunday, 23 March 2003 18:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I second the Liquid People remix of "It's My Life." GOD what a great song.

Evan (Evan), Sunday, 23 March 2003 19:28 (twenty-three years ago)

i will be checking out the Omni trio and Talk Talk remixes now

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 23 March 2003 19:48 (twenty-three years ago)

MJ Cole's remix of Lamb's "Gabriel" definitely so far for me - wonderfully instant, bouncy 4x4 garage, what a perfect way to kickstart springtime 03.

Also - perhaps I'm not to be trusted lightly on this since I worship the ground Todd Edwards walks on, but his remix of Space Cowboy's "Crazy Talk" is way gorgeous (a clip can be heard, as ever, on todd-edwards.net). The Nio remixes are great too.

Mind Taker, Sunday, 23 March 2003 22:28 (twenty-three years ago)

maybe king britte's remix of medicine8 rock music pays off

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 23 March 2003 22:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Despite all its cheesines and obnoxiousness, there's something eerily fascinating about the 11 min version of Shakira Te Aviso, Te Anuncio (Tango) (Gigi d'Agostino Psico Remix), so that's probably my favourite. I'm not sure if it's a 2003 remix though - if so, then I nominate the Infusion remix of Björk Pagan Poetry.

Siegbran (eofor), Monday, 24 March 2003 10:39 (twenty-three years ago)

maybe the unknown mix of toni braxton's 'hit the freeway'

zemko (bob), Monday, 24 March 2003 15:47 (twenty-three years ago)

high contrast has also remixed "papua new guinea"....dead can dance samples intact.

disco stu (disco stu), Wednesday, 26 March 2003 03:03 (twenty-three years ago)

one month passes...
kervorkian's rejiggle of moloko's
'forever more' is absolootly f*ckin amazing.
truly truly great.

piscesboy, Tuesday, 20 May 2003 16:50 (twenty-three years ago)

aaargh mind taker you've heard the nio mixes! do you when they're out

Chip Morningstar (bob), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 16:53 (twenty-three years ago)

no? know!

Chip Morningstar (bob), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 16:53 (twenty-three years ago)

kervorkian's rejiggle of moloko's
'forever more' is absolootly f*ckin amazing.
truly truly great.

Wow -- you're not kidding!

Andy K (Andy K), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 18:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, I love that Moloko remix too, it has a really beautiful, sculpted feeling to it. Re: High Contrast, their remix of The Streets It's Too Late is pretty great too, although I have the same problem with it that I have with most current D'n'B: too repetitive and simple breaks. Is it too much to ask for more than just one 4 bar drumloop?

Some more contenders for the big prize this year:
Adam Beyer Ignition Key (Speedy J Remix)
Sam Obernik Mr Butterfly (M Factor Vocal Mix)
Malixx ft John Watts End (Marco Zaffarano Remix)
The Gift Love Angel (M.I.K.E. Remix)
Luomo Tessio (Moonbootica Remix)

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 20:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Chip - I've only heard Nio mixes at todd-edwards.net (and a few times on 1xtra's garage shows). It hasn't been released yet (why oh WHY?), but judging by the talk on the Todd Yahoo! group, a mail-out promo CD is doing the rounds. So there is a possibility that they'll appear eventually on Soulseek, fingers crossed. The tracklisting:

Todd Edwards Special Compound R&B Mix
Todd Edwards Think So Vocalized Dub Remix
Todd Edwards So Special UK Dub
Todd Edwards Think So Vocal Edit

And watch out for the Space Cowboy remix, it really is one of Todd's best! (And the best thing I've heard so far this year, period... unfortunately, no release date in sight either)

Mind Taker, Tuesday, 20 May 2003 20:44 (twenty-three years ago)

As for the thread subject - I luuuurv Fatboy Slim's remix of Missy's "Gossip Folks". And while I'm at it, last year's remix of Slim's "Drop The Hate" by Hakan Libdo is great too - deceptively sounding like average uplifting gospel-y US garage, but actually totally deranged and low down dirty.

Mind Taker, Tuesday, 20 May 2003 20:49 (twenty-three years ago)

The Screwed Mix of Solange's Feelin' You is awesome--super-trippy soul. By some Houston DJ.

Ben Williams, Tuesday, 20 May 2003 20:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I quite like that Fatboy mix too, it really thumps along nicely in an old school fatboy way.

I enjoyed that Drop The Hate thing too yeah. I like the Wally Lopez remix of Andrea Doria's Bucci Bag, reminds me of Kid Kreme's remix of Junior Jack's Thrill Me from last year, that rock solid bassdrum driven electrohouse really gets me in the ribcage.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 21:01 (twenty-three years ago)

This thread seems to have a lack of ace remixes in it! The 10" Ewan Pearson Dub of Train by Goldfrapp is pretty cool. The Moguai Planet Funk mix is also pretty cool, as is the Rennie Pilgrim mix of Emit/Collect, check 'em if you can.

P K (Debord), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 21:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Also Luomo remix of Massive Attack, Special Cases.

Ben Williams, Tuesday, 20 May 2003 21:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Limit (BMR remix) - Boris Dlugosch on East West. This one is absolutely devestating on the goth techno tip.

i know it's from last year but i've only recently been hearing ladytron's 'seventeen' remixes out. there's a good one with a vitalic energy level, i don't know if it's droyds or manntrax.

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 21:19 (twenty-three years ago)

that boris dlugosch track is like deutschland's rebuttal to "la la land". forgot to get that in.

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 21:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I also like the Cosmos Acid Dub of Zoot Woman's It's Automatic.

Keep these suggestions coming. I still love the King Britte Medicine 8 mix I said way earlier upthread!

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 21:21 (twenty-three years ago)

vahid, you're talking about Deichkind Limit, aren't you?

I love these threads by the way, loads of great tracks and lots of tunes I have to check out...ok some more:

Playmaker Black Pony (Stonebridge & Axwell Ecstasy Mix) (complete filterhouse insanity)
Infusion Legacy (Junkie XL Remix)
Dave Gahan Dirty Sticky Floor (Junkie XL Vocal Remix) (no traces of the big beat JXL here, two synthpop male vocal tracks getting a completely spaced out makeover)
Fast Floor Sirens Of Time (Überdruck Remix) (if you like your bass hard, loud and deep - nobody here will like this probably so why do I bother...)
Andain Summer Calling (Tomcraft Remix) (more subtle than we're used from the man, electro/breaks with female on-the-brink-of-orgasm vocals)
Tomaz vs Filterheadz Sunshine (Carl Cox Remix) (great tribal techno, although not that different from the original)
Marmion Schöneberg (Yves DeRuyter Remix) (I like this even more than the new Technasia remix, I hope this gets released soon)

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 22:24 (twenty-three years ago)

aren't we all forgetting something here... something fresh out the kitchen?

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 22:40 (twenty-three years ago)

No no, please not...

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 22:46 (twenty-three years ago)

YES

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 22:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 22:57 (twenty-three years ago)

(I must second P K re: the Ewan Pearson Goldfrapp remix, it totally rocks!)

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 22:57 (twenty-three years ago)

ha yeah what fritz said

duane, Wednesday, 21 May 2003 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Dem Lott - "Dem Lott's 'Ere Now" (Sticky remix)

Nick H, Wednesday, 21 May 2003 00:29 (twenty-three years ago)

OOPS - big correction: the track is "limit (bmr remix)" by DEICHKIND on East West. Thanks, Siegbran, Dlugosch does the remix I guess. Have you heard the track?

Okay, my fave ghetto tech remix is disco d's "straight pimpin' remix" of his track "keys to the whip". he drops out the urban-takeover styled bass farts of the original in favor of an early 80s slap bass vamp and wild synth soloing behind the raps.

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 00:43 (twenty-three years ago)

how about that missy remix of "american life". it tries to make it "work it" and sparks fly everywhere. (CHEF! JET! FIVE! WOO!)

Honda (Honda), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 01:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, the BMR remix is by Boris Dlugosch & Michi Lange. Love the track, although I like the subtle microhouse-y Phobique remix even more.

Siegbran (eofor), Wednesday, 21 May 2003 12:16 (twenty-three years ago)

the monica remix with missy and busta. bonita applebaum, you gotta put me on

Chip Morningstar (bob), Saturday, 31 May 2003 21:29 (twenty-three years ago)

one month passes...
i'm adding 'house of jealous lovers' by the rapture
rubbed up awfully well by morgan geist. fckng ace.
*fckng* ACE. no vocals which is a disappointment though.

piscesboy, Wednesday, 23 July 2003 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

whats that strange claude young style thing of blur girls and boys?

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

ewan's come on leaps and bounds lately doing great stuff (he's a friend so i'm a bit biased) and his mix of seelenluft's manilla is one of my favourite records in ages, also theo parrish's rework of jill scott's slowly surely, luciano's amelie on ice and pretty much everything by akufen and luomo. of course, as far as garage goes, i'm loving rolldeep and their work one each other particularly dizzee's cut of wiley's ice rink...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

finally heard Sharky mix of I Luv U' - niiiiiice

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 13:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Stylophonic - Soul Reply (Tom Middleton Vox Mix)

(Tom Middleton can do no wrong at the moment - has there been any more stuff from the man this year?)

Mind Taker, Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:16 (twenty-two years ago)

'Soul Reply' is the track from the Fanta advert isnt it? will have to seek this remix

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

'Luomo - Tessio (Moonbootica Remix)' - YES YES YES!
Ignition is an obvious but correct choice

Plus the Ashley Beedle Elton John remix

Robin Goad (rgoad), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Steve: I don't watch much TV so don't know the Fanta advert, but... The remix ain't radically different from the original, so if you didn't like the original it is possible that you won't like the remix either. I love both, and the remix is more lush and succulent (as one would expect from Middleton's touch), with nice acid-y noises at the end.

Mind Taker, Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

'Luomo - Tessio (Moonbootica Remix)' - YES YES YES!

oh i forgot this - it's a belter. i'd kinda played out the mri mix, plus it reminds me of someone i don't really want to do too much thinking abt now, so this mix has been a godsend and really revitalized the track...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

No one mentioned Zongamin's Playgroup remix? Sheer fire in the disco greatness. Also, Tony Senghore's mix of Ladytron's 'Evil', Richard X's take on Tiga's Nelly cover, Soulwax and UNKLE's Shadow remixes and Cut Copy's remix of Noonday Underground's 'The Light Brigade', which is possibly the best they may ever sound. Ewan's Seelenluft remix is grand, as are the ones for Goldfrapp and Playgroup. I also think the single version of the new Mis-Teeq is a remix but it's definitely great either way.

And for the hell of it, 'It Takes Tea' because Pitman is everywhere.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

The mash-up of Nas' "Made You Look" with "Warpigs" is amazing, if mash-ups count as remixes.

Ben Boyer, Wednesday, 23 July 2003 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll second Zomngamin's Playgroup remix... heads... arms... hands... LIPS!

david day (winslow), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom Middleton did a decent remix of It's Automatic by Zoot Woman, for the re-release.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Ben, mashups are cool-Soulwax ones like the Shadow track are 'remixes' these days (their 'remix' of Alex Gopher's 'Party People' f'r'instance is simply the best party track ever), much like Dannii Minogue's 'Don't Wanna Lose This Groove', which is cool. According to Popjustice, S Club 8's new single gets mashed with the backing to 'Don't Stop Moving'-genius or gibberish...

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 24 July 2003 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Ewan Pearson is definitely REMIXER of the year, in my books.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 24 July 2003 01:37 (twenty-two years ago)

He's definitely this year's remix whore. Past whores include Cornelius, Four Tet and the Dust Brothers. Look for Richard X to threaten Ewan's whoring very soon.

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 24 July 2003 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, but he's a top quality courtesan, isn't he.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 24 July 2003 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

No diggity.

The thing is these remix whores all usually drop hot remakes, unlike other whores such as AndyVotel (too self-indulgent) and Oakenfold (nothing special). I have a friend who can barely fathom my owning of 'Diddy' while extolling the values of Oakenphant's pointless, camp and ineffectual 'Rock Your Body' version.

Oh shit, forgot to big up RJD2's Polyphonic Spree remix ('Soldier Girl') again, especially the instrumental.

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 24 July 2003 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Come to think of it, Tim, just last week the guy behind the counter and I were having a dialogue on whether Ewan was spreading himself thin-my take was that he'd be fine unless he's working on his own shit at the same time. I like the idea of someone who's mostly committed to remixing (for the moment anyway).

Pearson is everywhere.

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 24 July 2003 02:08 (twenty-two years ago)

could i just mention jacques lu cont? his mirwais, miss kitten and electric six remixes are absolutely fresh.

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 24 July 2003 02:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Is he just remixing? I know (next to) nothing about the guy.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 24 July 2003 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

he's in les rythmes digitals and zoot woman too

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 24 July 2003 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah. That makes sense.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 24 July 2003 02:45 (twenty-two years ago)

The Snake remix is fucking EPIC and knocks the Ignition one out of the water. This is pure hip-hopera.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Thursday, 24 July 2003 04:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Sterling can you tell me the difference between the Snake remix and its original so I know which one i have? Whichever version it is, it's beyond ace: "LIKE TWO GORRILAS IN THE JUNG-GULLLL MAKING LOOOOVE!"

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 24 July 2003 04:06 (twenty-two years ago)

The remix is slower and includes r. kelly giving shouts to those killed in the e-2 disaster as well as dropping a "ring the alaaarm".

the original is pretty straightforward until that in the jungle break and then it starts up with the "body popping like a cuban cigar" bit while the remix has the same bits but mixed around. also "i'm the mamma and you're the dada" hits hard in the original, semi-rapped/toasted while in the remix its almost sung and it resolves harmonically.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Thursday, 24 July 2003 04:13 (twenty-two years ago)

The jungle/body-popping section has to be one of the best moments in pop this year - I'd love to hear it in a packed club and just watch how everyone dancing to the track reacted to that section physically.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 24 July 2003 04:19 (twenty-two years ago)

esoj, I think Tim was referring to Ewan, not Jacques (for the record, his Faint remix is super-dope fresh).

Tim: www.somarecords.com/artists/ewanpearson/biography

I wanna hear the Snake remix-I think I've heard it and liked it but the memory on me...my sister loves it.

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 24 July 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

piscesboy - I LOVE that Moloko single.... and the album is probably my record of the year so far - at last Moloko have made an album that you can LISTEN to - all their others have been too self indulgent, overly experimental and... well... unlistenable in parts. I'll have to check out the remixes of Forever More.

My remix of the year is of one of my least favourite singles..... Goldfrapp's 'Train'.... the Ewan Pearson Moroder mix - just brilliant.

russ t, Thursday, 24 July 2003 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

the forever more remix is still sending
shivers all these months on russ.
also though, because it's their 'rumours' style break up album
the genuinely sad and yearning lyrics are what do it
for me on 'frvr more' as much as the mix itself.
all her talk of 'endless tears' and 'there's nobody to love me' -
i find it quite a choker. but yeah what a mix.
totally different to the single.

piscesboy, Thursday, 24 July 2003 13:18 (twenty-two years ago)

sterl it's time to move on to 'thoia thoing'

Chip Morningstar (bob), Thursday, 24 July 2003 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

the dabrye remix of t.raumschmiere's MONSTERTRUCKDRIVER rules all over this thread!

jason m. (jason m), Thursday, 24 July 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

four weeks pass...
i'm warming to the neptunes' 'sympathy for the devil'.

piscesboy, Thursday, 21 August 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Theo Parrish's slo-o-o-o-ow remix of Jill Scott's "Slowly, Surely"

jed_e_3 (jed_e_3), Thursday, 21 August 2003 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

that was 2002.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 21 August 2003 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Missy's re-rub of 'Crazy In love' was a hoot, as was the Pojmasta glitchified dub - maybe not year-winners tho

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 21 August 2003 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry strongo -i have only heard it recently - it sounds good in 2003.

jed_e_3 (jed_e_3), Thursday, 21 August 2003 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

heck fire !

i'm nominating db boulevard's
'boogie 2night' by tweet.
that's some fresh funky disco house right there.
what a record !

piscesboy, Sunday, 24 August 2003 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Errase Errata "Retreat" (Kid 606 remix)
Royksopp "Sparks" (Mandy remix)
Trash Palace "Metric system" (Headman remix)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Rich" (Pandaworksforthecops)
and the Soulwax ones for Playgroup, Dj Shadow, the Thin White Duke one for Madonna's "Hollywood".

Sami (Sami), Sunday, 24 August 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Lumidee with Busta and Fabolous. Richard X vs TLC-'Hands Up'. Freelance Hellraiser vs Xtina-'Fighter' (not a world-beater but kinda cool).

Barima (Barima), Sunday, 24 August 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
bump/revive etc.

piscesboy, Saturday, 25 October 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

look out for Jacknife Lee and Freelance Hellraiser's remix of the new(?) Marianne Faithful - forget it's name

the Goldfrapp/Marilyn Manson remix/collab i heard was good an' all

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 25 October 2003 12:41 (twenty-two years ago)

top 10 of the year (so far):

1. R. Kelly - "Ignition (Remix)"
2. Jammer - "Vice Versa (Remix)"
3. Quarks - "I Walk (Superpitcher Schaffle Mix)"
4. Dizzee Rascal - "I Luv U (Sharkie Major Remix)"
5. Massive Attack - "Special Cases (Akufen Remix)"
6. R. Kelly - "Snake (Remix)"
7. Pharrell - "Frontin (Yam Who Remix)"
8. Sean Paul vs. Unknown - "Get Busy (Drum & Bass Remix)" (the jump-up one)
9. Goldfrapp - "Train (Ewan Pearson 6X8 Vocal Mix)"
10. Basement Jaxx feat. Dizzee Rascal - "Lucky Star (Dillinja Remix)"

mohammed abba (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 25 October 2003 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't rate that Dillinja mix - the timestretching of the vocals seems too strained - i prefer the Pojmasta mix - insanely busy (tho kinda pointless i suppose) glitchy madness

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 25 October 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

It's got to be the remix to Ignition.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Saturday, 25 October 2003 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

The Benny Benassi remix of Electric Six's "Dance Commander" is awesome - really glad to see that Vitalic style burn-the-fucking-house-down electro/trance/techno/house mash-up theatrics are catching on.

Otherwise for me it's still T. Raumschmiere on 2raumwohnung, Moonbootica on Luomo, and a good deal of Jess's choices.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 26 October 2003 07:20 (twenty-two years ago)

The Monk electro mix of "All Around The World" by Cooler Kids. The original is gay as fuck and totally rad, but the remix turns it into a quick, metallic, compassionless killing machine. It's also weird how the Cooler Kids' music is all about being high and spoiled party bitches but is also candied-out and lyrically spotless enough to be marketed to little kids (songs are on the Lizzie McGuire and the nanny movie with Brittany Murphy soundtracks). Awesome.

DarrensCoq, Sunday, 26 October 2003 10:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah I'm all over that DFA remix of Deceptacon too. That end break is so unexpected and funky like fried chicken. J-J-J-JENGA!

DarrensCoq, Sunday, 26 October 2003 10:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Finney OTM re: 2raumwohnung

David. (Cozen), Sunday, 26 October 2003 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Lucky Pierre remixed by Minotaur Shock - 'The Heart Of All That Is'.
It's glitchy and bumpy, dancehall and r'n'b beats wrapped around some great string arrangements and smooth instrumental edits.

Barima (Barima), Sunday, 26 October 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

ALso, I think Ewan's 'Train' remix owes just as much to 'Throw' by Paperclip People as both do to 'I Feel Love'.

Barima (Barima), Sunday, 26 October 2003 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Barima, do you mean the dub version? Cos the 6/8 Vocal mix doesn't owe much to either (it's basically just beefs up the shuffletech rhythm of the original).

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 26 October 2003 22:22 (twenty-two years ago)

chromeo - destination overdrive, dfa mix

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 26 October 2003 22:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Adam Beyer-Ignition Key (Speedy J Remix) beyond any doubt.

Also noteworthy is the remix of Behind by Lacquer done by the ever intriguing Cosmo Vitelli.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 27 October 2003 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

omg I just got up from a nap that I had right after that last post and my dreams were all about trying to find all these mixes.

teeny (teeny), Monday, 27 October 2003 03:40 (twenty-two years ago)

three weeks pass...

have only just seen that last comment !
u can't beat record shop dreams.

anyway, tong played a *nuts* remix of 'voyager' by daft punk last week
by dominique torti. it's off the (import ?) version of a 'new' single
(surely the oldest new single in history being as 'discovery' came out march 2001) 'something about us' which is out shortly i think.

basically torti has lightly f-cked with the original
and boy o boy is it good.

anyone managed to get hold of the 'daft club' cd yet ?

piscesboy, Friday, 21 November 2003 11:34 (twenty-two years ago)

three weeks pass...
since the year is coming to a close and i ain't gonna go near soulseek in the following two weeks, here's my as-definitive-as-it-can-be top 25 of 03 remixes. all in all another great year, and i STILL haven't heard shitloads of possibly fantastic stuff but of what i've heard i've most enjoyed:

BTW have you heard the Markus Schultz mixes of Jewel "Stand"?
