So, Sarah is looking for some new Girl Groups because she's bored over on ILX (not bored w/ ilx, just the original thread over there). Girl fronted bands or girl bands - any decade - maybe this one should stick to rock and pop?

Japan: OOIOO rocks like a bastard, as does Buffalo Daughter, as did Shonen Knife. My wonderful little Pizzicato Five must count too.

Colombia: Aterciopelados is pretty hip but I'm still unconvinced that they've made a consistently great record yet.

Mexico: Tijuana No! back when Julieta Venegas was with 'em before she decamped for a great solo career.

America: Labelle in their heyday. Damn Nona Hendryx is America's unsungest heroine.

If I type "dirty dronerock boys" here, that should be more than sufficient bait to lure ILM's resident expert on this subject (not that there's anything ODD or UNUSUAL about girls in music, natch) thisthreadwards.

And since she'd never recommend it herself, I'll nominate The Lollies' "Call The Girls".

And Betty Boo's "(Hey DJ) I Can't Dance To That Music You're Playing" and Bow Wow Wow's "I Want Candy".

Yes.
