Ooh, youse on the money there. I gotta admit, when we did it, it was always the NYD's kinda "PC" and the Rollins kinda "Ex-Lion Tamer" But the Sonic Youth part completely slipped my mind.

Man, you're good. Fuck.

the new york dolls covering ex-lion tamer would've been awesome. but a wire cover of 'personality crisis' would probably suck.

still, ex-lion tamer wins cuz i like the song better.

Well, if you count just a bunch of guys fucking around with some distant idea to gig somewhere, like around 472.

But for bands that actuaaly wrote, recorded, and put out some stuff, as well as played a few cities, there was

Factor 8 - The Minor Threat/early Agnostic Front sounding hardcore band we had going, which I was just played bass in, and did an occasional lead track on the recordings. THis was mainly Mike Siciliano's band (now in Stilyagi), he wrote all the songs. Mike was the make-it-happen guy, he had all the neccessary gear and the drive to do something besides fuck around. He was the only one with serious goals, I think. Frank played drums (in the bands we had, anyhow. He can play everything from guitar to harmonica to sax, sort of), Frank is 5'1", 84 lbs, and a fucking maniac in that genius sorta way. He's the guy who can sing along with the radio while it scans from station to station, singing 30 seconds of whatever is randomly playing, and if he doesn't know the words, he just uses some form of "MotherFucker" or "El Em En Oh Pee" to replace the real lyrics, which works wonders. He introduced me to James Chance and his Flaming Demonics.

After getting blacklisted from the nearest big city, Pittsburgh (after Frank told a guy to fuck off while covering everything, including the guy's band flyers, with the yellow flyer campaign of death (we put around 20,000 flyers up in a 4 block area, with wheat paste) the story evolved into that we beat the shit out of the guy and robbed him or something.. Never happened, oh well) We managed to scam a gig or two as The Capones.

Factor 8 changed it's name to (I), pronounced "ASS", in the late 90's when every pop punk band in the world seemed to be springing up with a name-number name.

Josta Baby - basically me and Anthony Schiappa, I played the instruments and wrote most of the music, Anthony sung and wrote most of the words. While playng live Frank played drums and Mike played bass or second guitar or keys, whichever we needed. At one point we were a 7-piece, which was sweet.

Josta Baby was more eclectic, we did DEVO-ish new wave, straight up rockers, some disco, some funk, some reggae, and a song that sounded a lot like "Beer Can" off of Beck's Mellow Gold. Lots of Small Stone phase shifter on those recordings.
