where is the love for "shame"? if I had to pick only ONE SP song that would be it. That might make me a wussy though.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Friday, 30 January 2004 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah! Bless your heart for saying that, "Shame" is simply utterly spectacular -- and only the album version works, the live versions I've heard just force it too much. On Adore it's this gentle, reflective perfect song of hushed grace, and the way his vocals just fade off at the end is beautiful. Anyone who says he never had any subtlety about him hasn't heard this.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 January 2004 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

"Shame" is lovely.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Friday, 30 January 2004 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Speaking of which, has anyone been to Corgan's new site (here)? I can't decide if it's self-parody or not.

Top 10:
1979
Behold! The Nightmare
Bodies
Hummer
I of the Mourning
Let Me Give the World to You
Mayonaise
Muzzle
Obscured
Once in a While
Set the Ray to Jerry
Soma
Speed Kills
Saturnine
Stand Inside Your Love
Starla
Thru the Eyes of Ruby

(sorry, I really, really, really can't narrow it down beyond that, former Corganite that I am...)

Girolamo Savonarola, Sunday, 1 February 2004 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

has anyone been to Corgan's new site

Yeah, there's been a couple of threads on it. Parody? I don't think so, it's all very much his writing style -- I refer you to the Pisces Iscariot liner notes, it's just the way he writes/rambles.

I will say I did like that he put in a link to the actual Mary Star of the Sea church.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 1 February 2004 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Billy should post to ILX, we can put him in a cage with Alex and watch them fite.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 1 February 2004 15:24 (twenty-two years ago)

That site is legit. If you want to see a real parody of BC doing an LJ, check this out.

It's pretty over the top.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Sunday, 1 February 2004 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

No, no, it's not the rambling - that's always been consistent. But mother of...well, forget that...it's almost like he's decided that he's gonna confirm all the rumors of him really being closer in personality (music be damned) to Brian Wilson than Alan Partridge egomaniac everyone knew and loved/hated! Honestly, it's completely like reading something twee, but without the irony. Lil' ol' Billy. Wow.

Girolamo Savonarola, Sunday, 1 February 2004 23:15 (twenty-two years ago)

If the music's still good, no complaints!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 1 February 2004 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Girolamo Savonarola, Monday, 2 February 2004 01:24 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
01. Beautiful - all of Corgan's pop talent compressed into one
song.

02. Plume - I suspect that _Pisces Iscariot_ is never given it's
fair due in this kind of list.
03. Rhinoceros
04. We Only Come Out At Night - Smashing Pumpkins at their most
delicious unhip.
05. Stand Inside Your Love - this one of Corgan's typically
smashing choruses. He achieved the same affect in Hole's "Malibu."
06. Jellybelly
07. Farewell And Goodbye
08. Cherub Rock
09. 1979
10. Bullet With Butterfly Wings

Squirrel_Police (Squirrel_Police), Monday, 5 April 2004 22:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't agree with my initial list on here at all. Just list any 10 songs on Pisces Iscariot and I'm good.

Yeah, Billy's depressing these days.

One song that immediately comes to mind as a fave tho is "Bodies".

Trayce, Saturday, 9 June 2007 07:42 (nineteen years ago)

OK now I'm listening to them again after years, its all your fault Curtis.

Curt1s Stephens, Saturday, 9 June 2007 16:01 (nineteen years ago)

"Bodies" is really good, one of my favorite tracks on Mellon Collie!

Curt1s Stephens, Saturday, 9 June 2007 16:01 (nineteen years ago)

"Rhinoceros" is an astonishing song, easily one of the best of the 90s for me.

so I'm seeing the Pumpkins in Austin TX tonight, on the Zeitgeist (wtf) tour... and so, here's my POX songs i'd like to see SP play in Austin tonight, limited to songs i'm aware they've played on the tour thus far:

Starla (!!!!!!!!)
Drown
Cherub Rock
Today
Hummer
Thirty-Three
Set the Ray to Jerry
To Sheila
Stand Inside Your Love
Let Me Give the World to You

...and POV songs (mostly pre-Zeitgeist material here) that i could really go without hearing tonight, though it's almost certain that i'll get at least four of these, based on previous/recent setlists:

Bullet with Butterfly Wings
Zero
Heavy Metal Machine
Glass and the Ghost Children
United States

stephen, Tuesday, 13 November 2007 21:19 (eighteen years ago)

am I overestimating the band contribution in thinking it wouldn't be the same without James Iha (and D'arcy, but mostly Iha)?

yes.

stephen, Tuesday, 13 November 2007 21:42 (eighteen years ago)

I never thought I'd see the day where Billy Corgan's stage attire was more outlandish than Jimmy Flemion's...

Warning... the new documentary suuuuuuuuuuucks. The bonus disc with the live footage is pretty decent, but the doc itself is awful. It amounts to an hour and a half of Billy whining about fan expectations and bringing in Pete Townshend to back him up about the pressures of moving forward. Although I do admit, I have a huuuge crush on Ginger after watching it.
